Patrick Reed - Titleist

I was watching the first round of the Sentry last night and noticed Patrick Reed in a Titleist hat.

Is it a ball only deal or full bag?

Actually, not really. Patrick does have a ball deal, but he chose to wear the hat, he doesn't have the full Staff deal (from Jonathan Wall). He was wearing the GFORE hat earlier this week, which was also reported in WRX he doesn't have a deal with them either...just bought the stuff himself. 

 

Classic mixup of Masters champion trying to look like a Tour player!

From Jonathan Wall on Twitter: "Gonna clear this up before rumors get started: Patrick Reed is wearing a Titleist hat this week, but he’s NOT on a staff deal. Does have a ball deal. Needed a lid for the week now that he’s no longer with Nike and chose Titleist."

 

Wonder if he used some proshop credit for the cap?

Per the Titleist web site ball deal only. IIRC he signed with Grindworks for his irons last year.

Pretty funny (and sad) that a major winner is so unlikeable that he can’t get any sponsorship deals outside of golf balls.

I am sure any credit he had is only applicable in the Continental US.  Probably had to pull his wallet out and pay premium Kapalua prices!

And that a company comes out quickly to state said golfer does not have a deal with them.  Usually free advertising is a good thing, but not when it's Patrick Reed.

He's Captain America and Wilson is one of the older sporting goods brands in America. He fits perfect with Gary Woodland.

I'm not sure many people care about that anymore.
People love him in the Ryder and Presidents cups.
Wilson isn't doing much at the moment and they need life in their brand.

Man, I think Wilson is probably the last company that would sign Reed. Besides, they're doing just fine with the iron lineup they have. They have a pretty big presence in Europe and the U.S. Maybe not PGA tour presence but once people play their irons they tend to stick with them and they keep them in the bag for quite a while. The V6's had a 4 year run. That's almost unheard of nowadays.

Totally agree. I find it was incredible with all the drama surrounding him he still goes out and just performs. Most guys would wilt under that type of pressure, he thrives on it.

I've played 350 rounds of golf in the last 3 years in 2 different countries and I have never played with anyone gaming Wilsons. Maybe you're right but I haven't see it firsthand.

While Wilson is an older sporting goods brand in and from America, Wilson has not been American owned for some time.
