I dont know about you guys but i struggle to find that 225-240yd club at the top of my iron set/bottom of my woods

I'm currently flicking between a GBB EPIC heaven wood,  a rogue 17 hybrid, a ts3 19 hybrid and a taylormade RAC LT 2 iron (old faithful ) but am really struggling to bridge my 4 wood down to my 4 iron (my set 3 iron isn't consistent enough)

what do you guys do?

I prefer the traditional look and used to play a TM-B 4 iron bent a few degrees stronger

for context my index is 7.2 and I play;

TS3 10.5, D1, TOUR AD MT6-S

Rogue 4 wood, Evenflow 6.0

718 MB 4-PW, 6.0

SM7 50,56 WF

SM5 T grind 62 WF

Sink golf custom putter modelled on my old Laguna 1.5 (UK based company)

I'm going with a 3 wood turned up to about 16 degrees for my 245y shot, a hybrid turned up to about 21 degrees for my 225y shots, and a 4i (driving iron head) turned up to about 25 degrees for my 200 yard shots.  The overarching theory here is forgiveness AND predictable ball flight, hence why all are turned up vs. down.

The U500 with a Hzrdus 6.0 might fit the slot. It looks clean like the T-MB, and has some pop to it.

TEE makes a EXS 220 Ti utility, also a CBX ironwood. The EXS PRO hybrid is great as well.

Personally I like something that’s a very iron like hybrid, so I have a 20* Adams Super 9031 proto hybrid that I put a Modus 105s steel shaft in, which matches my irons.

I have a 17-* 716 T-MB 2 iron from the set of 2-PW I previously had, and I’m looking to put a Hzrdus 6.0 shaft in it after hitting the Titleist U-500 that had it. I figured I could swap it out with the 20* Hybrid depending on conditions. The U500 was phenomenal. I liked the T-Mb obviously since I bought the set, but the U-500 with the Hzrdus was even better.

For your set 3i, would it be more consistent if had a lighter shaft (maybe even graphite), or if you softstepped it?

And, how far can you hit the 3H? Can you knock a ball out of the rough with it?

Let's face it, most of us won't knock down pins from 225 yards out. You want something that has about the right distance, without excess L-to-R variance.

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
