Cleveland 588 forged CB irons - thoughts?

I have been eyeing these for awhile and just acquired a mint 3-PW set. Just curious on the thoughts from those that have used them at some point....the rumor of Endo forging is out there....true? Thanks!

Played them before I got my Bridgetone j15 CB's.  The 588 CB's are very good irons...soft feel, great look behind the ball.  They performed well for me.

Just sold a set only because I want to find a cb/mb combo. Don’t think there’s an iron you can buy today that’s any better.

Endo forged, micro milled face, super soft, crazy value if you can find a nice used set -

These were the last forged irons Cleveland did before ( cleveland/srixon) went full bore with srixon irons in the US and other than the sole grind Tour VT are the pre (X)45 series blades 945s and cavity, the famous 745.

Thanks everyone. I bought a set 3-P in incredible condition. Have some PXG 0311XF like new and I am not clicking with them. Thinking these Cleveland's will knock them out of the bag.

Wow, those are too really different clubs. If you saw them side by side you might think the XF stands for Xtra Fat!

Yep. Went from IBlades (sold them in process....donkey) to the PXG. Can't seem to make that transition, so bought these Cleveland's....for an unreal price. Hoping I can sell or trade the PXG on the exchange/classifieds.....

Had them back in the day and sold them after 2 seasons, and I REGRET IT lol. Lovely set, so nice just a really pro iron set. Congrats on the mint set!! I always look for these too!

Hopefully snow melts here in CO to take them out for a round this weekend. I was surprised they didn't go quicker on the BST. I think the Cleveland name hurts them....I had a set of gunmetal ta3's before and sold them.....dumb. I will not sell these.

Very solid irons. I had the CB/MB combo set for a season when they came out. I bought them mainly cause the MB's were the best feeling iron I'd ever hit at the time. Also pretty forgiving considering they very definitely "blades". I don't remember the CB's in the set being anything special but the set as a whole was very nice; everything blended nicely so the feel must have been just as good as the MB's...

My current irons since 2017!  I had a crush on these when I tried them at a demo day back in 2012, and I then found a set for $100 on ebay in 2017.  They look and feel great, and I don't plan on taking them out of my bag anytime soon.  If there is a negative for me, the sole doesn't provide much relief if you are a digger.

If the 588's don't jive hit me up.  I have been looking for months and am SO mad you posted this because now others will be looking as well lol

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

I tested these a few years ago along with the Wilson v4 irons. The shop I was in had a brand new set just sitting there. It really was a coin toss between the two of them, until I found a brand new set of v4's on Ebay for $300.

The Wilson v4's are just as good, maybe little extra distance, but NOT as pretty!  Heck of a deal tho, wow.

I have two mint CB sets in my garage.  They feel great!  (I bought the second set as a back-up because I liked the first set so much.)  My only issue is they aren't terribly long.  I know that's not something I should be too concerned with, but my Callaway X-forged feel just as good and are a full club longer.  So for the sake of my ego, I use the Callys.

Hi, you must have bought that set on eBay last weekend, they were a bargain.

I have been using them for the last few years and they are great, especially with the 5.5 shafts mine have.

On length, they have very traditional lofts, slightly irritating they are odd lofts too, rather than even. So the 7 iron is 35°s which is an 8 iron in many sets these days. The p wedge is 47 degrees which means you need a 51 gap wedge rather than the 52 I have, I might change to a 50 degree in the spring.

There are a couple of sets on ebay at the moment.

I found a set locally which was totally random as I wasn't looking for a set. Had a hit of 7 and PW at the club range and they were pure $$$. Always a blades guy, but I haven't played consistently in about 5 years due to life commitments and these feel almost like Mizuno Mp-33's with a slight click when struck.

These are the first set I've seen anywhere in Oz.
