Anybody go from G25 to G425? If so, impressions, results?

I will be coming from the G25s to the G425s, but my G425s just arrived and they look INCREDIBLE.  Can't wait to hit them!

My buddy was fitted into these today as an 8 handicap. I went along with him for the fitting since I had nothing else to do. Being someone who was just fitted into the i210, I couldn't believe how well these looked at address. He was fitted into the power spec as he has a bigtime problem with launching way too high. Power spec with PX LZ 6.0, kept his ball flight low and gave him a few extra yards. He's pumped.

Yeah, I have been seeing more and more posts of 2-10 handicap range actually playing these G series line. Defiantly will give more confidence to the higher handicappers.

My handicap is 9 (usually between 9 and 11) and I just switched "to G from i" (G425 from i20).

I reasoned that I will get better mishits, and that will make my golfing more enjoyable.

We'll see if this is true when the season starts 🙂

Just to be clear: I like the looks better on my old i20, but I think I will get used to the G425s pretty fast.

Anyone find these extremely clicky? I hit these high and straight but they were loud.

Same here.  I love the ball flight.  I love the forgiveness.  Missed shot seem to fly straighter and not as offline as some of my other iron sets.  But the sound.  So awful.  Even center strikes it sounds just a bit off.  That being said I haven’t hit these clubs in warm weather. It’s been below 65* and I’ve held off giving a more complete review of these sticks since I received them 3 weeks ago.  They do look very nice at address.  But I also wonder if the sound has to do with my steel shafts, Project X LZ and/or the fact I asked for D2 SW and they feel much heftier.  That prob sounds ridiculous but I don’t recall the demos sounding like my set and my local store doesn’t use soft balls in the simulator.

Yes, clicky with cold range balls (only a few degrees above freezing). Not so much with an ordinary ball that I warmed in my pocket (but still cold air).

When I tried them indoors (room temperature, premium balls), I didn't notice the sound. So I'm confident it will be better in the summer.

thanks for the quick reply....bending them really messes with the intended bounce, so I'm not to warm on the idea of having that done....and if they are bending by hand, how patient are they to bend them all exactly 2 degrees?

Ping understands this better than anyone.  I think they have the bounce/loft/lie under control on their own clubs.

Ordered today (3/23).  Ordered the G425 Fairways, Hybrid and Irons along with the Glide 3.0 wedges.  Everything except the wedges is being quoted at 4-5 weeks.  The Irons are custom at Red Dot and 1/4" long with Recoil 95's.  The wedges are Eye 2 grind and are being listed at 6-7 weeks 😞

Still playing i25 and thinking about g425. I like the head size and top line on g425.

Yup. When I bought my G400's on eBay they were blue and I needed red. I sent them to Ping and not only did they bend them, they cleaned them up and repainted the dot. There is a matrix on the Ping site listing which irons they will bend and how many colors they will bend them.

I just ordered a set of G425's yesterday and they will be my first set of new clubs since 2009. I usually shop for the cheapest set I like which are typically Senior flex and then I reshaft and get them bent. Looking forward to a brand new set made to order.  I was told 3-4 weeks but I'm not expecting them that soon.

I think I might be going to an all-PING bag (ever).   1st day on the practice green with the PING Tyne Sigma G putter and it was eye-opening to say the least.   Can't wait for my G425 irons, woods, hybrid and my Glide 3.0 wedges to get here in a month or so.  Looks like the driver may need to be optimized via fitting to make my bag complete PING.  The numbers I got on the G425 irons (along with the custom fit to Red dot) feels like I'm going to be more dialed in with my disparity.   The loft/lie adjustments available in the fairways and hybrid will allow me to take the left side out of play.   The only downside is the Glide 3.0 wedges will be a 6-7 week wait 😞  Opening day is one week away at our club (weather permitting)!!

Just an update.
I've been practicing a bit from grass with my new G245s, as opposed to range mat.

With ordinary balls and a bit milder temperature (about 50 degrees), I no longer think about the sound from the clubs.

Certainly clickier than my old i20s, but I no longer notice 🙂

Scroll down to Custom To The Core - Custom Built For You and fast forward to 2:50 minute mark (well watch the whole video). Clubs are digitally measured for loft and lie and they can't proceed to the next club until the one they are on is correct.

The best time for golf is starting now, so the clubs will get a great workout before years end. I like the Gen2's except the low ball flight. I need more help to elevate the ball, and I hear the G425's can easily handle that problem. I really like the MMT shafts in the Gen2's, what a great shaft!!
