SuperSpeed Golf DATA Thread. How have you improved? (Data Only Please)

Recommended Posts

NOTE:  If you have data you would like to share from similar products, feel free but please mention the product you used in your post.  Also, feel free to sort of mimic my format down below but adjust it accordingly as different products will not have the same lingo (example: SSG has green, red, blue sticks for primary program, others have removable weights etc.)

The intent of this thread is for people to post their data for this system (so hard to find in the other huge thread).  Please post in the format below (and please no posts with discussion, there is enough of that in the other thread).  I think this will be informative to a lot of people in more ways than one.  It will be a concise thread that can show the improvement or lack of improvement for others and help people make a decision on whether to purchase and use this particular system or not, and it can also help show comparisons between people so they can compare their actual driver speed vs stick speed, things like that.  This is also for me as I have been following this subject for a while and it interests me greatly.

I would prefer that no posts on data using home made versions are used, but if you really would like to share it, please say that you used home made ones in your post.

1) Radar Used (PRGR, Swing Speed Radar, other)

2) Green Stick Max (max (in mph) when first started, max now)

3) Blue Stick Max (max (in mph) when first started, max now)

4) Red Stick Max (max (in mph) when first started, max now)

5) Driver speed max using same radar used for sticks (max (in mph) when first started, max now)

6) Driver speed max using high end machine if applicable.  (specific machine used, max driver swing speed when first started (in mph), max now)

7) Length of time you have been training.

Extra) Comments about your journey (example:   Did your contact get better or worse?  Did your swing get better or worse? Did you have major plateaus or injuries or speed decreases? Did you combine other things with this training to achieve your increases? etc)

Edit:  Added length of time, example comment and before/after driver speed.

Thank you ahead of time for taking the time to post your information.

can you update OP to incorporate @MaxSwingSpeed

If you want to post your increases with a similar product, go for it, I just request that you make it known it is for a different product.  I can't accommodate them all with my list of questions, but certainly do your own sort of format if you like.

I will update OP saying as much.  Thanks.

i think main thing would be equivalent weights for this:

2) Green Stick Max (max (in mph) when first started, max now)

3) Blue Stick Max (max (in mph) when first started, max now)

4) Red Stick Max (max (in mph) when first started, max now)

the maxswingspeed thread seems to be active and i imagine people from that thread would be happy to share their progress here, too. just trying to make it easy for everyone.

Still hoping to get this thread going, so hard to find info like this in the other huge thread and I really do think it would benefit people to see some results for comparison and evaluation of their progress.  I only own the Red stick as I used to use a homemade, shorter and much heavier one but I got the red stick so I could compare to others and make myself a workout program for the winter.

1) Radar Used (PRGR, Swing Speed Radar, other)

2) Green Stick Max (max (in mph) when first started, max now Don't Own Green Stick)

3) Blue Stick Max (max (in mph) when first started, max now Don't Own Blue Stick)

4) Red Stick Max (max (in mph) when first started 129, max now 137 (~2 months later)

5) Driver speed max using same radar used for sticks (max (in mph) when first started 134, max now 140)

6) Driver speed max using high end machine if applicable.  (specific machine used Trackman, max driver swing speed when first started (in mph) 125.6, max now Have not retested yet )

7) Length of time you have been training Been doing my own version of over speed training for years but with this recent effort, about 2 months.

Extra) Comments about your journey:  I find not hitting a ball and just swinging the sticks can be harder on your body especially when swinging in the cold or not fully warmed up.  I find a long deliberate warm up is super important to not hurting yourself.  I find that I have an issue with fully laying down the speed I have physically when hitting an actual ball mostly due to a tendency to swing too outward and I would therefore almost wiff the ball if I swung full effort during swing speed maxing sessions.  I find the air resistance of a 460 cc driver to be much larger than expected vs the superspeed clubs.  It is extremely noticeable and I suspect the more aerodynamic minded club models would work best for the faster players since that drag grows drastically the faster you swing.

I more or less feel like I have regained most of what I have lost over the past year in the past couple of months working on this.  There were also 2 weeks in there where it was too cold to do this in my garage so I had quite a long break of no workout.  My current workout generally consists of a long warm up in my garage with wedges and long irons.  I then hit a bunch of golf balls with the driver and work up to full speed and fully warmed up.  I end with about 10-20 swings with the red stick followed by about 10 more full out driver swings going for PRs.  I spend about an hour doing this workout and it seems to be doing me a lot of good.

Alright I'll give it a go.

1) Radar Used - Swing Speed Radar

2) Green Stick Max - 121 to 131

3) Blue Stick Max - 115 to 122

4) Red Stick Max - 106 to 115

5) Driver speed max using same radar used for sticks - 111 to 120

6) Driver speed max using high end machine if applicable - only have access to GC2 but ballspeed is up 10ish mph

7) Length of time you have been training - 4 months (started Nov 3)

I've posted this in other threads but basically once golf season ended here in Canada I started a whole offseason plan. I have done Fit For Golf + Superspeed religiously 3 times a week. I do Superspeed in the middle of the FFG Offseason workout, basically the stretching/mobility drills are my warmup. I've been taking lessons essentially every other week and hit balls 3-4 times a week. I haven't had any injuries but various plateau's as to be expected. I'm in level 3 protocols now, biggest gains I've seen recently is my LH swings getting almost identical to my RH swings.

I've only been playing golf for under two years, I am by no means a big guy (5'9"ish 145lbs) but I am a lunatic who once I get interested in something I go ALL IN. So basically my experience is what you would probably guess, in order to gain speed (or get better at golf in general) it's a multi pronged approach and you gotta stick to it.

I posted my numbers in the Drive 400 distance program thread but might as well post them here too.

The Drive 400 program from puredistancegolf.com is just a training program; no accessory included.

You need your driver, a yoga mat, a foam roller, and access to a gym to do the full training.

I do not own a swing speed radar and used ball speed as a measure of improvement (using a Skytrak at first then a GC2).

Before: Average ball speed 138mph

1 month: Average ball speed 144mph

2 months: Average ball speed 148mph

3 months: Average ball speed 153mph

4 months: Average ball speed 155mph

Comments: I'm about 4.5 months in and still gaining speed. I'm surprised the program doesn't get more attention, probably because it's just a program and not some kind of weighted stick.

I am 5'5 and 124lbs (I gained like 3 pounds of muscle in 4 months LOL) and I'm amazed at how far I can hit it despite my size. The program includes a bunch of mobility and stretching exercises that greatly help prevent injury and decrease recovery time. I do them almost every day, and everytime before I play golf.
