How do the #s compare?

The g425 was much shorter. It was much slower. It could be that I was swinging the stock ping tour shaft and I am just not a good match. I don’t know. But it was easily the shortest..

The sim2 compared to my sim and the TSi3 were very close.

the sim2 launches higher. I was hitting the 8 degree sim 2 head and I cannot get the sim 8 off the ground. Spin seems a little higher but not 100% sure yet. But it for sure launches higher.

Here some pictures up close of the SIM only for now.     Wk

@QuigleyDUthanks for the side by side. I never had a problem with the shallow face but the deep face on the 2 looks so much like an M2 and definitely looks more confidence inspiring! I assume you got some swings with it?

I did. I really like it. I think it feels a bit better. It launched higher for me. Spin and ball speeds were good.

I can try and post some numbers Friday.

Side by side. SIM vs. SIM2

To me, the sim2 is more compact looking and the face is deeper.

I like the slightly more grey top of the sim but the pear shape I think stands out more on the sim2

the white trim seems to be getting smaller as well, but not by much.

These we both 8 degree heads.

Other than the face, they look almost identical to me.

They may be and it could be an optics thing that makes one look smaller to me.

but you would think that to increase face depth you are going to have to take somewhere else to keep the volume the same.

Thx @QuigleyDU...... when you say higher, are we talking 2 degrees launch / 20-30ft apex?

Probably right around that. 2 to 3 degrees. At least for me.

I hit my TSi3 right around 11-12 degrees with a 10 degree head. I am a bit of a lower launching ball flight guy. I was getting those same launch numbers with the sim2 8 degree head. The standard sim in 8 degree I was launching at 8 or 9 degrees no matter how hard I tried.

Well, considering TM doesnt have to repaint the peices, its high. I mean when buying new, we can go choose a car color, shoe color, hat color, golf bag color, all FREE. Just sayin 🤷‍♂️

Not true. There are many color choices in cars that are an up charge. Same goes for limited colorways in shoes. They may not have to repaint them, but they do have to order less pieces and economies of scale come into play.

Yea but most product has a wide variety of choices...for free. I promise you, a little piece of aluminum and some paint isn't 70 bucks lol. If I was one of these companies like mizuno or cobra, just behind the big boys, id be all over this and offer it free. It would be a massive hit

Keep in mind, it looks like the carbon sole has color adjustments as well (jumped back to page 2 on this thread for confirmation). That's at least 2 specific pieces that need to be customized in the manufacturing process if they aren't already stocked (which if they are also increases cost). Factor in fully burdened labor rates of at least $30/hr plus markup, $70 seems reasonable.

The "Forged Aluminium" is interesting.  I wonder if the colors are anodized rather than painted?

I really hope it is; otherwise it'd peel/scratch off and that's a high-use area.

Yea but its not like they are taking an already built driver head and taking it apart to put it back together again... it takes the same amount of “labor” to built the standard head....

All it would really take is for them to manufacture every piece with every option. They should have an idea which colors will be more popular than other. Overruns can be recycled or sold off at a discount.

Sorry, but its a money grab. I like Taylormade too. I have a SIM.

No, the aluminum isn't, but that's not all that goes into it. It's producing the piece, shipping it, assembling it, and then they have to profit.

Yes... lol but they still have to do that with the stock blue piece....

Yes, they do, but the assembly lines are set up for the retail offerings. To create the one offs, the assembly lines have to be completely altered. Imagine Coke stopping the assembly line for a single, different label on a bottle. They have to shut down all the machines. Take one bottle out. Have someone print out the unique label, have another person attach the label, have another person pack the bottle.

It's not as simple as you're assuming. I'm sure it's quite complicated, but runs smoothe.

Fair points. I would assume the production line is set up to run smoother with stock offerings though but I'm not close enough to know for sure. Thinking out loud here - they can grab-place-adhear and move on (if that's how it works on their floor). In that process, they wouldn't have to review build sheets which would hold significant time savings in itself.

They may potentially run these through a complete different manufacturing process on custom vs stock - which would alter the cost structure. Would probably include additional QC checks to make sure the customer order matches the spec as well. Time is money and deviations from the standard always take more time.

Im in a manufacturing industry, and i promise you, lines are built for complexity, and changeability. If only a few people ever ordered a certain color then ok, yea thats a different story. But to offer 5-8 stock colors, that they will sell thousands of each color,  thats not that difficult.
