Hello,

I'm looking forward to trying the G425 MAX and LST this week as they hit the stores for demo here in Canada. I was just curious for those of you who have already been playing these clubs and or tried them what your thoughts are on the stock shaft choices. I know the outcome will be different for everyone but going into the demo what should I be looking for and what are the pros/cons of each?

Also, I've never tried Arccos grips but are they a gimmick and better off just opting for the standard gold price grips or go for the Arccos option? I'll probably be custom ordering instead of choosing off rack.

I'd go with the stock Tour shaft over the Alta shaft, the Ping Tour shaft is actually one of the better stock shafts offered, it is also a CB shaft. The Tensei Orange is solid as well, works if you want a lower flight vs the Tour shaft. The Rogue White I cannot comment on.

But from your list I'd pick Tensei Orange as you don't have the Ping Tour shaft listed.

I thought the Tour shaft is low launching / lower spinning option and Tensei Orange was mid launch / mid spin option. Alta high launch / high spin.

How I launch it i found the tour a touch higher than the Orange. I'm just going off what I remember seeing testing the two shaft.

Can't comment on the shafts but I'll never go back to the pre-Arccos days (or something similar). It's not make or break since they can be added later, but if it's a factory option I'm getting them every time.

I have the tour 65 s in a 410 head and have been happy with the feel and performance. Smooth tempo, mildly aggro at top, lauches high enough in a 10.5 head to not seem like a low/low shaft and does not balloon. Spin seems reasonable, haven’t been on launch monitor for exact #s. Alta was too lightweight overall and haven’t hit the orange. Ping tour shafts have always outperformed made for alternatives from TM in my opinion. Good luck

The Ping Tour is more mid low/mid low the raw orange is mid/mid  but the Ping Tour shaft is not a CB shaft. The low/low option is the Rogue White 130.

After 15 years of a very happy relationship with my Ping Rapture 12 degree with a regular flex Mitsubishi Diamana Blueboard, I am going to get a new driver.

I expect to pick between the G425 Max 12 (or 10.5) degree or the 10.5 degree LST.

That being said, I am disappointed with the stock shaft offerings. I really love the Mitsubishi Diamana Blueboard on my current driver and want something similar.

My swingspeed is a little under 100mph and I hit a highish trajectory with a slight draw.

Which of the Ping shaft offerings would be the closest match?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

The mid launch mid spin option is the Tensei Raw Orange 65.  The Blueboard is a mid mid type of shaft.  don't know how the torque ratings are on these shafts but that could give you a firmer or softer feel.

I really enjoyed the Rogue White, and found the AV Raw Orange to be too high launch/spin (~105mph SS). Tour 65 performs well too. Will all depend on your launch/spin profile of course, but the difference between Tensei Orange and Rogue White was pretty darn noticeable in the Max head for me.

Very similar swing speed as you. Also launch high and play a slight draw. I went for a fitting for G425. Tried Alta (launched it way too high) Tried Project X (way too stiff feeling, Tried Ping Tour(it's in my G400 now), walked out with Rogue. Took my launch angle from 18-19 to 12-13 and my spin from mid 3000's to 2,200-2,400. Such a smooth feeling shaft too. It arrives tomorrow. I can give more feedback when I put it in play this weekend.

Hey, any other experiences with the Tensei AV orange shaft? As I am interested in the G425 max, the website paired me with the Tensei AV but how does the shaft works compared to the alta and rogue? My SS is about 92-95, so for what I learned the Tour and even the rogue could be too much shaft. The TXG test to the G425 with the Tensei on YT is very impressive.

I have both the 410+ and the 410 LST drivers with 5 different shafts. There is a noticeable lower trajectory with the LST. I have tried every possible combination with each shaft and there is nearly zero difference in ball speed and total distance. The shafts I have are Tensei Orange, Project X Smoke Black, the stock Ping Tour, Fuji Kuro Kage and Fuel. The Ping Tour gives me the best accuracy, the Smoke Black a higher trajectory than I expected. My basic personal launch monitor doesn’t show spin, launch angle and face angle. Based on my play and range time, the stock Ping Tour is the one for me.  So if you desire a lower trajectory, the LST head is better. For forgiveness, I’d choose the max, both with the stock Ping Tour Shaft.

I got fitted (swing speed measured at 90mph, I am getting old!) and ended up getting Tensei Orange regular flex shafts for both driver (60) and fairways (75).

Tried the Altas in both reg and stiff as well as the Oranges in 55 (reg and stiff) and the 60 in stiff. The Orange in reg 60 worked best for me.

Just took them on the course yesterday and I like the shafts as much if not better than the MR Diamana Blueboard (60/70) reg flex they replaced.

Which one do you mean? The tensei orange 55 (50 gramms) or the orange 65 (61 gramms according to pings website)? I am leaning to the 425 driver, fairway and hybrid with the tensei, but I am not sure tensei 55 stiff or 65 regular. Many thanks for your help.

You could always just keep using your blueboard.  That shaft will be relevant until the end of time

I got the 60 gram Tensei Orange in regular and am happy with it.

That being said, I do have a Diamana Blueboard in regular that I am having a Ping adapter put on so I can compare. Not sure if the counterweight of the orange will be an advantage over the blue.
