The TR grooves weren't well received by their tour staff, and the reason is stated in the marketing for this new line - "the face features shallow grooves that provide consistent feedback no matter where you strike the ball on the face" From what I've heard the main issue with the TR grooves was inconsistent sound/feedback across the face, and this interfered with distance control for some players. 

 

I think this new line could be great - They have the consistent grooves back, tungsten weights... it's all going to come down to the feel of the new insert. Hope it's firmer than the last one.

I think these new putters are Hohum.  Ping should Zing some more money into R & D to develop a real, PLeasing D*mn line of putters.  That’s the Anser to all their problems.

Ping treat lefties fairly well.

 

Not enamoured with the looks but I’ll definitely be buying an Anser 4. Used a stainless steel one for many years before switching to a Newport 2.5 a while back. The Anser 4 sits better at address for me and the modern design will help slightly with consistency.

In all seriousness, I think all of PINGs OTR options are offered in Lefty.  I could be wrong, but as a Lefty I almost always notice any model I click on is available in LH over the years.  Just some of the special PLD type stuff isn't.

Looks like Carl’s Golfland has these on their website for preorder beginning 4/12. I think some of my Biden Bucks will be headed towards a Tyne C.

How can they justify a $100 difference between the Hardwood & the other new putters? Is there really that much difference in product cost?

Harwood is going to be available as armlock (when are these getting banned?), but it's also the only one that's a combination of aluminum, steel, and tungsten. A bit more complicated to manufacture and that's probably why it's more. It appears to have tungsten weights at all 4 corners of the head.

These are up on PING's website now. One thing that's very interesting in that in some models the heel weight is steel and the toe weight is tungsten so that the COG lines up right.

It is a really good selection of headshapes (except for the fact that everything has a flange line...) but they just look so faux-techy and "modern" (and not in a good way).

Surely someone at PING's putting department knows that sight lines don't work for everyone.  Agreed that none of the releases the past few years have appeared to be high quality.

I think they look pretty nice in PING's pictures. I don't really like a red color scheme but you can't see it from address so I don't really care. 

 

I agree they should have considered different sight-lines for some of them. For example, I think the DS 72 and the Tyne 4 would look so much better with a topline.

This kind of putter must be what sells in the general marketplace...Ping needs to compete with the likes of odyssey and TM. I think I prefer these to similar putters in the $250 range.

But I sure would like to see some fully milled classic styles like the PLD ones you often see on tour.

That’s a custom order now. Coming with fixed length shafts as standard. I prefer that.

That's very interesting… I would have thought all the sizes are a pain. I guess the customer has spoken.

 

I have to get a custom anyhow for loft, so I'll get it adjustable, and then when I'm happy, I'll put in a Breakthrough. Not sure if I want to add 1/4 or half inch… that's the only way to know, really.
