Did you see the ball speed increase in the TB over the 1K that the TSG boys saw lofting down?

At the same loft, TB gave me more BS due to more consistent strike location.

i am struggling with consistency with this shaft as well vs. my ventus shafts.  When I hit it on, it goes further than my Ventus Blue 6x, but my mishits are really punished.  Not as consistent as either the Ventus Blue or Black for me.

I may be one of the few, but never liked either the Ventus Blue or Black.  I recently got a 60X from Will Peoples (shout out) and put it in a TI SIM Max 8 degree.  The spin was too low and didn't want to add loft and close the face.  Ended up refitting myself on the range with the new SIM 2 heads (both std and max) and ended up with the 10.5 degree delofted to 9.75 to slightly open face and bring spin and launch down a tad.  This was getting me 25 yards more carry than my 3 wood beast.  Let the fun begin!  The shaft feels so stable without feeling like rebar (ie:  Atmos Tour Spec Black).

Played 18 today.  Decided to play the front with the RDX Blue and back with the 1k with my SIM2 Max.  Ended yesterdays range session on a good note and found a new "feel" to add to choking down about a 1/2", so I looked forward to todays round.  Hit some good drives with the Blue and overall pleased with the front 9.  Good distance, good dispersion, overall good face contact, and felt confident.  10 was a par 3 so hit the 1k on 11 for the first time on the course.  Best drive of the day.  Straight and long (for me).  Great med/hi height and ball seemed to stay in the air and online (straight) for a long time.  I didn't measure the distance but I had ~71 in from the back tees playing ~340 (hole was flat and maybe a touch into a slight cool breeze).  Not all of my drives were that good but I felt confident with it, and distance and dispersion was good.  The 1k felt about or as smooth as the RDX Blue and with my so-so speed, certainly feel like I can go after it without losing stability, which isn't too different than the Blue, really.  I originally thought the 1k might be too stout for me and the ball flight too low but it really feels good.  I don't have any actual launch monitor data but judging by on the course and range observations the 1k is going to battle the RDX Blue for the #1 spot.  So today was overall a much better outing than my 1st range session with the 1k which was discouraging.  I'm encouraged with my driver play overall and new "feel" (adding width in the backswing and delaying my wrist hinge) and look forward to more side by side range and on course time.  I'd love to hear others' experiences with the 1k and how it stacks up with other shafts for them.  I actually have an original Smoke Black on the way to compare as well.  I play the Smoke Black in my Epic Speed (on the bench for now) and really like that combo so thought I'd throw that in to the mix.

I'm a huge fan of this shaft.  Coming from a Ventus Velocore, its a totally different animal so I don't get the comparisons.  I know they both have fancy tech in the tip.   The 1K 50X is more lively and smooth feeling than the Ventus Blue 7S I was using and the 6S I owned and sold.  I know some people have said the Tensei 1K feels stiff, but compared to a Ventus it definitely does not to me.  The 50X plays weaker than a Ventus Blue 7S for me.   I think the Ventus is a great shaft for strong swingers who want the ultimate in tip stability.  It's an absolute tank and I can understand why its so popular on tour where the guys want no curve.   But for me the 50X 1K gives me more distance and a more lively action.  It also feels awesome.  Really solid, which I wasn't expecting with a 50gram shaft.    For some reason, the 1K is more fade biased for me, but it may be the extra length I'm playing it at (45.75 instead of 45).  Overall very pleased and the Ventus may find its way to the classifieds.

I'm tempted to try the 50s to see if I can get more speed, but will stay with the 60s until otherwise convinced.

Nah. Not worth it IMO. Only 6 grams difference. I was coming from a 76 gram shaft to a 59 gram one and it is a different shaft completely. I also lengthened by club a lot.  All things equal I doubt 6 grams is making a huge difference. Also tests show that people don’t always swing faster with lighter or longer clubs.

The only way to know is to test it yourself to see how you react. You’ll need to add weight to your clubhead to get SW back to your preferred SW.

I was in a 50S Pro White 1K and got better all round performance with TB 70S with a 2 mph increase in CHS both playing D4 SW.

You're right.  Just the Wrx'er in me.  I've only played 9 in this so certainly more testing to come.  I got along OK with the Ventus Blue 5s, just ok with the 6x, and didn't get a chance to try the 6s.  Tested the Ventus Black 6s and did ok but def more feel and consistency with the 1k and a better ball flight for me with the 1k.  The 1k also tested better than various Graphic Design shafts - for me (the IZ, TP, DI, and XC).

So I have 1 round and 200 balls with my "TB" 65 TX. I have to say that this is a "firm smooth" shaft if that makes sense? The tip feels a touch looser than my VB 6X but the handle feels firmer to me. I would almost say it feels like a "tighter" Motore F3... When I have a smooth transition it just flat out performs for me but when I get quick it can get a little more squirrely than the VB... The verdict is still up in the air as of now. I could see this being a brilliant fairway shaft for sure. I was hoping for the famous "DI" feel with accuracy and I would say it launches a touch lower, spins less and is more accurate as of now...

Been reading this thread for a while now and thought I’d chime in! Have a 50x (tipped 1”) on the way. I’ll be testing it against my ventus red 6x (tipped 1”) in my g425 max. Definitely curious to see how the shafts compare on the course!

Look forward to hearing the results!

Put together a 50TX at 46'' with a Sim 2 8 degrees Std, 1 click open, and full lower settings. For the first time ever I put the shaft in play without testing on Monday and had a rough round. I've been battling shoulder impingement, and if/when I stop my gym training, it becomes unbearable. Being an adult sucks with all the needing to balance work, training, practicing, playing, and family. It's a good thing that I don't socialize because it would otherwise become unbearable.

Anyhow, the rant above was to put into context the fact that I was/am injured and that may have hindered performance. So I ventured into the range this evening and went through my routine. Some pain and discomfort but whatever. 40s are around the corner so I guess this is life now. Went to the short game area for like 20 minutes for the 1st time in months. When I came back and started smoothing some drives out there something seemed a bit odd. Went to my car and set up my launch monitor. I was shocked at the results. I was getting numbers that I have only whiffed at previously when I was in peak condition: lifting 5 times a week, speed training, sleeping well, practicing every day. Granted, I usually game short and heavy setups so going longer and lighter is definitely a contributing factor. But being this physically compromised and getting these results? I'm quite cynical and very skeptical of the hype - although I buy all of it. I'm incredibly motivated now to putting in the work to get healthy and see how far I can push my numbers this year.

I tried mine out yesterday, 1k 50X 45" in an 8 degree tour issue SIM.    First time hitting the SIM head as well so it was a bit interesting to say the least.    I didn't go to hard after the ball but the ones I caught well the ball got out there pretty well.   I was gaming a Speedzone Extreme also tour issue with Hulk 6.5x.   So far so good I'll report back when I get some more time with it.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just got back from vacation and played the Plantation at Kapalua and Wailea  Gold courses.  I took the 1K 50TX as I didn’t want to take my AutoFlex in case it was damaged or lost.  Put the All Fit adapter on the shaft and paired it with my Sim2 set at 9*.

played really well with the winds on the Planation course.  Hit a few into the wind that were not knocked down as much as I would have thought.  Also hit a couple downwind that seemed to fly forever.  Especially holes 6, 7, 17 and 18.  Very smooth feeling shaft for me.  Plays very close to my Ventus Black 6X.  The only issue is I can launch the 1K a bit higher than my Ventus Black.

at the Wailea Gold course there was no wind and since it’s right on the ocean I thought it wouldn’t carry as far as normal.  No such trouble.  Driver was money on both courses.  Just wish my putting would have matched it.  That grain was just something else. Hard to really go after a straight downhill putt, even into the grain.  However uphill with the grain we’re like lightning.  Was crazy but the 1K performed really well.

It seems that most people in this thread are opting for the 50g-60g option at longer playing lengths. Has anyone tried the 70g 1K in a shorter driver build (sub 45"). I have the 70TX in route that I plan to test at 44.5". I played the Ventus Black 7x at 44.5" last year and I am currently playing the Ventus Black 6x at 45" right now. I had slightly better performance with the heavier/shorter build. I'm curious to hear some feedback from those that have tried this shaft in a 70g setup (length/tipping info/SS/etc would be helpful). This is going in a G425 LST 10.5 head for reference.
