what to look for in college Golf

I studied architecture and played golf.  it's one of those majors that becomes a lifestyle as opposed to something that you study.  it absolutely consumed my life and I was also trying to maintain some level of social life.

 

golf took a back turn and it became a second thought or maybe even a third thought.  I actually ended up studying engineering.  it still consumed my life but I was able to limit my frequent 2:00am visits to the design studio.

 

I also recall my other teammates that studied business or psychology.  looking back, I think they had a much more of a fulfilling experience in college.

 

unless your son has a very detailed subject he wants to study or area that he wants to focus in, make sure that he doesn't put himself in a hole.  

 

I know college is for education but it's as much about the experience as anything else.

 

also, it's good that your son is emailing coaches.  remember that he also needs to share some of his scores, tournament results and even videos of his game.  (I highly recommend that he posts a 10 minute video of him working through a putting drill).  college coaches eats that stuff up as they wish all players would prioritize short game.  

I cannot imagine any coach wanting to watch a ten minute video of anybody doing a putting drill. My experience is that coaches hate any videos that are over 90 seconds, preferably 60 seconds. If a coach wants more video, they will request it.
