I demo'ed all three heads this weekend. Fully went in thinking the Max LS would be the one for me but the Speed won by a mile. Right from the first drive I couldn't not hit the middle, it was crazy (&

Shape on the LS is disappointing for a players driver.  IMO.

But it’s not 4 bars. It’s a frame.

Epic Max ls on left Epic Speed on right. Same loft on each head and same setting.

Yup! That's them! LOL. I can't get over how closed the Max LS was. That driver seems to be an oxymoron. Loving my Speed though, Callaway finally got it right!

I agree that it's a bit odd, but I think the LS looks closed without actually being that way. Think that's a function of how the topline blends into the neck/adapter. It doesn't really fit my eye either, and usually not fussy about things like that.

Is this a typo? That looks like the regular Max not the LS.

Nope, that's it. It doesn't look bad or big to me. And it's the angle, it doesn't sit that closed to my eye.

Wow, what a turn of events for me. Started the year ogling the G425 LS. busting, busting for it. Finally hit that and it felt like crap because of the heavy weight.

So I turn back and got the Max LS instead. For some reason, my Epic Flash Sub Zero has turned into a hook machine for me and for a long time I was fighting a fade with that driver. Haven't quite figure out if it's me and the 1 plane swing, or the Conex adapter or combination. I hit my Pars & Stripes so good and thats like a fade club for me in contrast. I tweaked that club so much I wonder if I should even bother...

But of course the WRX ho in me said - spend the $$$ so...the right choice is the Max LS since the CG is neutral and the demo shots confirmed it. Was so tempted with the regular Max as well. Didn't care for the Speed.

I guess it's - HELLO CALLAWAY. Again 🙉🙈🙊🤗

Pro-tip, make sure they play with headweight in your fitting. I know for me I couldn't get on with Mavrik at all given how damn light it was, but once we started upping the head weight and consequently got the swing weight into that D4-D6 range it really came alive.

That said, the Callaway's did literally nothing for me in the fitting. Not sure if I was more disappointed about that or the performance of the SIM2 after almost gaming the SIM last year.

This piques my curiosity as I'm still learning the '21 product; where did the Callaway stuff fall short of expectation?

It just took too long to mess with head weight and swing weight to get it on par with everything else available. I was super impressed with the Srixon if you're looking for a more affordable TSi3.

SUPER fade biased if you're into that.

Got it, cheers. I'd bet that the Speed TD LS will be more your cup of tea when it arrives in April, but obviously that's a long time to wait when you've already found something really well suited to you.

Yeah, I do my driver fitting the end of January every new year. So at this point we're locked into TSi3 barring anything crazy.

They're listed on MCA's website.

The MMT wood shaft is an execution of the Blue profile but with different material applications.

Haven't hit them much but was impressed when I did; quite nice feel and instantly recognizable as the Blue, smooth profile.

thanks! my epic sub zero from 2017 weighs 196g so these are lighter due to the 45.75" length increase i assume

From what I’ve seen, the measuring method changed to the USGA method so the new 45.75” is the same as Callaway’s old measurement method’s 45.5”.

I used the std. Mavrik last year and it has been a great driver for me with one exception, the left miss. I get quick in transition at times and can hook the Mavrik two fairways over when I get in that funk. I was going to get a tour flat adapter for the Mavrik and keep it in play this year but the Epic Max LS sounds perfect for me so I hoed out and ordered one. The Mavrik orange was fine with me but I still went with a custom black scheme. The green is terrible this year so I went with a black custom again with the clean crown option.

Got a chance to hit the LS today; not outside, but on an indoor trackman.  Out of all the drivers to release this year I was looking forward to this one the most.  I like Callaway and this driver seemed to check off all the things I would be looking for in a club.  After about an hour and half, (and about a dozen shafts) I just couldn’t help but be disappointed.  It was slow, spinny, and very left bias.  I was lucky to get in the mid 160s ball speed (most were high 150s, low 160s) and when I did, it was just launching too high and then just falling straight down.  Hit both the 10.5 and the 9 in all sorts of different configurations and everything just felt slow.  Thought I could be having a bad day and got my tsi3 (8 deg, c1, tour ad iz 7tx) out about halfway through the session and was back to hitting mid 170 ball speeds and 300 plus carry without the huge misses left.  Went back to the LS and nothing but duds.  I’m not giving up on it yet though.  I like the way it sets and sounds and would like to get it outdoors with a guy who really knows Callaway stuff.  I would like to play around with the head weight and maybe ask if any lower lofts are possible with different adapters.  They have no outdoor fittings scheduled in my area (north Florida) as of yet so I’ll keep an eye out.

Probably too far away, but our calendar is rapidly filling up with outdoor events in the Panhandle.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll keep a look out and keep checking Callaways website for any updates on outdoor fittings.  The panhandle is not  too far away at all (I once flew to Arizona for a putter fitting, though that was before I was married).  Besides, nothing like a quiet little 4 hour drive down I-10.

The difference in shell weight from your EF SZ is likely the front weight which was 2G or 4G.

Anyone know if there will be a 150% trade coming up?

I got an email from Graves Golf Academy (since i use to subscribe to their membership) saying they are the only one offering a 150% trade in on any club for the Callaway. However, I think the will probably in a months time, it's going to be an insane year with so many great drivers. I think it's just a question of time, not if.... just don't trade in a driver you'll regret later 😉

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
