Bag recommendation please...

Good afternoon. I need a bag recommendation for my 79 year old dad.

 

We put an order in for a Vessel 2.0 stand bag with 14 way divider with his name embroidered on it early last month.  Our inteneded xmas gift to him. After a few weeks of no communication, I asked for a status update. They said things are backed up and would probably get it mid March. So I cancelled the order.

 

I now need recommendations on a bag. Super nice. I think we were around $400 on that Vessel, so something similar. If I can get his name embroidered on that would he a plus.

 

He mostly rides, so a lighter cart bag would be great. And 14 way divider

I have a sun mountain 14 way 4.5 stand bag. Love it and I ride during every round. Golf Galaxy has the 2020 bags (whatever is left) marked down from $229 to $185

I'm thinking anything you are custom ordering right now is going to have a pretty significant turn around time. Unless having his name embroidered is a must have I'd consider skipping that part so you can get the bag quicker. 

 

You can always take the bag to a local seamstress and get his name sewn on later if you want.

Sun mountain 14, titleist 14 drop the embroidery its just  pretentious, just get him a bag. The boutique bags mean zero.

Man you guys are brutal. The guy is looking for a nice bag for his 79 year old dad. No reason to cheap out just because it doesn't make sense to you to splurge on a bag. I just got the vessel players 3 bag with the 14 way top and it looks great. I thought it might be tight getting clubs in and out but after getting out with it I can tell you it was fine. One difference between the new players 3 bag and the old version is that the new one has full length dividers and the older ones only went down 3/4 of the way. If you can wait for it to ship I definitely recommend it. Unfortunately I don't know of any other comparable bags that also have 14 way tops.

Consider the Ping Hoofer14 even though it is a stand bag...nothing will hold up better.

Kudos to ur dad for still going strong at 79 👏👏💪.

 

It’s tough to beat Vessel on quality.
In terms of niche bags, I would recommend a Stitch SL2 as an alternative. It’s right around ur price range. It’s a gorgeous and lightweight stand bag. U can have your dad’s initials edged on an ingot.  However, it only has a 4 way divider; other than that, it’s a perfect bag. 
I love it.

I play at a course with a fair amount of seniors, some ride and some use push carts.

a few still walk with double strappers.

they like structured bags with dividers. multiple pockets for gear and their 'stuff'

they keep bags forever. source of pride.

 

I see lots of Titleist, Sun Mountain and Callaway bags, some branded from destination courses.

maybe because of availability , maybe they last longer.

funny but they buy cheaper balls and better headcovers.

 

Boiler0007, I hope you get one that your dad likes and enjoys.

He's a lucky man.
