New (to me) irons!

Hey guys my buddy just sold me his z745 irons with projectx 6.5x shafts. I was gaming cleveland 588 (s300) combo set prior. I loved the feel of the clevelands but just felt when i slightly miss-hit the spin was crazy and they were costing me strokes. Im curious if anyone has used the srixons and had any feedback on them. I am excited to try them out :).

Irons like to be hit out the middle. That issue has everything to do with you any nothing to do with the irons. The 588s are good sticks. The 745 are amazing but they will only put out what you put in.

S300 to PX 6.5 is a pretty big jump.

Hope they work out for you.

So much positivity!

There are guys on tour that still use those 745’s, pretty universally liked, hope you enjoy them.

I am positive! They’re great irons. I just think that saying your irons are costing you strokes because they spin weird when you miss hit them is a bit odd? I think if they fit they’re wonderful irons.

Lol im not saying i expect them to make me any better, just would it be fair to say if i hit it slightly off the toe, it may offer a bit more of a consistent spread as compared to a bladed iron?

Yea thats what im a bit nervous of but hoping the less spin is alright and i can launch the longer irons okay.

Do you know your swing speed? The Srixon heads tend to spin a little less as is and the PX 6.5 spin quite a bit less than s300 (generally).

Agreed.  And, DG vs PX seems to be an "either/or" situation; it's not that common to find folks who like both.  Or maybe it's just me, I'm not a PX fan.  LOL

Driver sits around 115 not sure of irons at the moment

Should be fine for 6.5 then. You might need to adjust the lofts a little weaker if they aren’t spinning enough. Can always retrofit. I had low spinning shafts in my 745 when I had them and the 4 iron would be a bit bullety at times.

Op. I agree with nsxguy. It's the shaft that might cost your grief down the road. It will be quite stout.

Srixon heads are fine (in fact most iron heads) as long as you get the shaft right in most cases.

Swing speed of slowest, average to fasters swingers so your swing speed of 115 will be in top 1% in average club golfers: https://swingmangolf.com/average-golf-swing-speed-chart-2/#:~:text=Since 2007%2C the PGA TOUR,is about 2.60 yards%2Fdrive.

Thanks thats a good point, might have to consider if they are feeling that way. I have a feeling they will be.

I apologize Im not quite sure what you mean. Are you saying that these shafts are too much? Thanks

On paper I would think at 115 swing speed the 6.5 might be a better fit than an S300 but they are fairly different shafts feel wise, just might take some adjusting.
