Low Spin Ball? ZStar XV, -Pro V1X, B330

Looking for suggestions to knock a few RPMs down from standard ProV1.

TP5x. Left Dash and AVX would probably be your three best options

Current ProV1x spins more and launches higher than the regular ProV. Over the years the 2 balls have really switched characteristics.  For lowvspin my money is on the TPx.

I would go Bridgestone or regular V1.

I played the ZStar XV (most of the time) and Bridgestone Tour B X (some) this year and feel like both were longer balls for me (which usually means lower spin from my experience with my swing).  I didn't do any launch monitor testing so I don't for sure what RPMs were compared to something like a V1x or V1, but from the standpoint of feel and playing characteristics (trajectory, reaction into and around the green) each seemed like lower spin (with the ZStar XV probably slightly lower spin than the Tour B X).

I wouldn't classify the XV as a low spin ball. It spins more than the ZStar around the greens and off irons. It might be slightly lower spin off the driver, but is so close that you aren't likely to see it.

OP, what shots are you trying to lower spin - woods, long irons, wedges?

 

Each ball handles each area a little differently. 

 

Once I know your desired results, I can toss a few recommendations at you.

Well, then you and I suffer from the same disease... so here are my thoughts based on hours of testing on course and dry ball data.

 

(in order from lowest spin to highest)
With full iron shots AVX, Left Dash, TP5x, Tour BX, and V1 (21) are the low spin champs.

With the tee ball Left Dash, AVX, TP5X, Tour BX, and V1 (21) win that game.

 

The best ball for my game is Tour BX, followed closely by 2021 V1 (have been testing prototypes for a couple of months). BX also has by for the most green side spin of them all (chips, pitch, and bunker shots). Left Dash is a beast off the tee but would fall out of the air when I would hit some knockdowns or lower spin shots. That said, if you want low spin, period... and have some swing speed to support it, I would say Left Dash will give you all you can handle. My driver is 100mph and I find Tour BX to be almost as long as Left Dash and longer than the others.  When it comes to approach shots, it's like BX can read my mind and gives me the exact spin I want on every shot.

Left Dash is what you're looking for. If the feel on it is too firm, then TP5X. Callaway will have a ball out in March that also has this kind of performance.

Tour B X offers a bit more spin, but not that much more. It's a really well balanced ball.
