Golf bag storage rack

Ok so I have a bit of a golf bag addiction and the wife says I need to clean things up and get organized instead of just lining the walls of a room.

As I started to look around on the various search options what I have found is the different racks available seem to all be made of metal.

What I was looking for is a wooden option that will hold two bags with shelving either to one side or dividing the bags. The problem is I can’t seem to find any wood racks that fit this description.

Does anyone know where something like this might exist and could you please point me in the right direction? Thanks again in advance to anyone with suggestions.

Building it myself does seem to be the only option. I’m more of a demolition guy then a finish guy so it may not turn out real great. Thanks for the help I do appreciate it. Definitely want wood versus the metal racks.

I made this out of fine sanded plywood and then ironed on veneers on the exposed sides. No special joints, just screws.

if you only have two bags - are you really a WRX'er ?

since you didn't mention anything about having clubs in the bags, maybe you could look at a prebuilt 48" wide bookcase type with deep adjustable shelves and store them sideways.

one on the bottom and another at the middle.

depending on the height chosen, still room for another shelf or two farther up for caps, souvenirs, trophies, etc.

the upper back wall of the case could be used to mount a favorite putter or something along those lines.

if you go with a 30' high unit, use the top for a lamp and frame some golf pics to show off.

I’m actually up to 7 bags which is why I would like something a little nicer to dress the room up and make it look more organized. Lol and I truly believe that this rack will turn into wainscoting around the room with no wall visible. Hahahaha. At the moment only 3 bag have clubs. One gamer set up, one back up bag, and one miscellaneous bag with shafts umbrellas and such. Forgot to mention the shelving will help with the 10 pairs of shoes and the 30 dozen golf balls as well. Some great inspiration has been shared for sure.

Oh I love what they have done! Gotta love the Billy's.. Being around forever, inexpensive and endless possibilities. I would need to look into those to deal with all the stand bags I always struggle with.

On another note, I changed bag collection to staff bags some time ago so they can stand securely with whatever you put in them. Now I have 10 staff bags in my mancave, 8 of them are full of clubs, shafts and training tools. Downside of that is you can't really use them on course all the time without looking like a jackass poser. They line up to form a wall to shield off my messy work area. So far I have 1 den caddy to hold putters, and I just ordered another one because those work so much better holding putters.

I do really like the idea from the above link to create space in Billy bookcase for putter and headcover display as I have a few that I would like to put there.

I’ve got a mix of staff and stand bags and while I really like the ikea set up I feel like it could be a disaster with the stand bags. Would have to add some sort of bungee cord to secure the bags. I actually mentioned this to a friend and his dad is a bit of a wood worker in his free time so he’s going to see if he can’t put something together for me.

These all look great, but like the OP I have a serious issue and need lots of storage. I’ve always wanted a rack that could store them horizontally. Have to use a wine rack for reference, but basically a giant version of this:

So you are thinking of storing bags horizontally? I hadn’t given that a thought. Everything I have had running through my mind has been vertical. Now I have to run this around in my mind. This is becoming difficult seeing all the different ideas. I can see where this can become a very deep rabbit hole, building, rebuilding, additional design.

For me it seems like the only option to get all my bags into one space.  If I could buy or build a rack that could hold them horizontally, and go from floor to ceiling, I think it would save me a ton of space.  It would have to be three feet deep, but I think I could stack them four high and as a bonus I could keep clubs in there too.

Something like this would work, but since it's only 15 inches deep I'd need two of them- one right in front of the other.

I haven’t considered this but in my weird way, even though it is basically advertising for the company, the bags have sort of become art to me. So in turn I want to show off the style of the bags. I think horizontal would be great if I had a more tool view of the bag versus “art” view.

That’s exactly what’s holding me back from just buying something from IKEA and calling it a day. I have a Nike and a Ping bag I use pretty regularly, then 2-3 bags I use a handful of times per year when I take the clubs in them out for a round, but that leaves the rest of them just sitting in my storage room doing nothing.

My perfect setup would be to have them on a shelf or rack where they could sit horizontal, but you’d be looking at the side. I just can’t figure out how to make it work.

That IKEA shelving unit would at least get them out of the corner of the basement. Something like this from Home Depot would do it but that’s an ugly shelf:

I have purposely avoided shelving like this in my consideration. The wire racks I just don’t care for. Wood is definitely my preference for this type of storage. If I were stock piling can goods this would work lol.
