Tour PXG Gen 4 prototype drivers - new putters

I’ll come back and just report like I have ALOT through a few threads. My Gen4 0811x with Smoke Green shaft continues to be my Primary Weapon on the course. Played my first 12 holes last night (before dark)...since vacation and hit some really long and straight drives. My son who plays with me all the time was amazed at the distance I had on a few of them. Kudos to @PXG for a great driver!!!!

Don’t trust PXG tracking for the build. Just picked up my Gen3 irons and their tracking said they are still in build. I called because this is my third time my clubs showed in build and they were sitting there waiting for pick up.

 

Just passing this on… Now it’s time to install my new grips.

Still available for Heroes at $199 clearance price. Marked as for "Heroes Only" on the website. Seems like they tend to do this for older items. 2019 0211 DualCor irons are still available for "Heroes only."

Let’s hope…glad I grabbed another Proto+ head using my $96 email credit off $199. I’ll be ok for a little while. RIP Proto Series

Has everyone gotten their email credit? I ordered on 7/8 and have not gotten anything? I called PXG on Wednesday and was told I should be getting an email - but still nothing.

Credits do take a full 7/8 business days. That is my experience.

Played XF front 9 and the Proto+ back 9 at a tight course here in the valley today. 
 

Results were:

XF averaged 279yards but hit only 2 fairways (4 just off into the first cut)

 

Proto+ averaged 274yards and hit 7 fairways 

 

Conclusion…not much in it and really appreciated it’s which one do you like to look down at and which sounds do you like. Both amazing could bag either for the rest of the year.

Man - I as on a golfing trip this weekend - how did you get the credit?  My order went in on the 7th for 2 Gen 4 FWs and the fitter gave me the June price of $325 instead of the $349 on the 7th (actually forgot and I reminded him).  Can I get the $279?  If so, how do I go about doing that?

 

Also is it possible to back into a full bag deal?  I ordered the G4 driver, then Hybrid, then the FWs, and a Blackbird putter - all in short order but not together.  I would consider the irons and wedges if they would do that.

 

The Gen4 driver with GD Tour AD TP shaft is absolutely amazing - I can swing as hard as I want and it stays right with me, unless I really swing poorly.  Blackbird putter is phenomenal for me as well

I have not gotten mine yet. But know a bunch have. I bought the Gen4 0811x on July 8th for the heros pricing of $395 - then before my order even shipped they decreased the prices to $299. So, I was told to call PXG and ask them what they could do and they said they will reach out to you if you are eligible for the price decrease credit. So if you bought on the 7th (I bought on the 8th), they should issue you a PXG credit for that difference. I still haven't seem mine yet though

I “think” I’ve said it before 😂😂😂 but I just love my GEN4 driver. Played 18 yesterday and wasn’t swinging my best (couldn’t get loose) but man did my driver still perform ⛳️🏌🏽‍♂️.  I missed some fairways, but they were all in the first cut despite my swings.
2 things I found funny during the round…(1) my son noticed I wasn’t swinging it well but he was and despite that I was still hitting it as far as him, (2) he kept talking about how I’ve gained about 10 yds with driver this year and how I should be able to drive a few of the par 4’s at our old home course 😂😂😂.  We’ll here’s to hoping that he’s right. 
 

and one thing I forgot, this driver in less then 2 months has helped me drop my handicap from a 14.1 to a 10.6 as of this morning my lowest ever. Now let’s get it another 1.7 lower 🤞🏼💪🏼⛳️🏌🏽‍♂️

Congrats on finding a great setup and hitting it far! I am the same way with the Gen4 X. Hitting it better than any driver I have had in a long time. Getting longer each round for me. Keep that handicap falling man!

I couldn't resist, pulled the trigger on a Gen4 hybrid last night...Gonna put it up against the Gen2 and see what its about...

When did you make your purchase?  Mine was within a few days, and I have not heard anything from them.  I sent a question to them last night about it though.  They did send me something about PXG 1000 though 🙂

Please report back on the hybrid.  I’m still loving my Gen2, but I also received a credit for the recent price drop, so I’m thinking about upgrading…

Two weeks before I got this email was when I got the Gen4XF and a month we earlier bought the 0211 3wood. So not sure which club or clubs this credit was for but either way glad to have used it on the clean new back up Proto+ head.

Thinking about picking up a Gen 4 XF to replace my Ping G400 which I’ve never loved. I’ve never hit a PXG product and was curious if those on the thread could provide some feedback. 

 

I tend to miss high toe with a nice sweet snap hook. Based on what I’ve read not sure if the Gen 4 is right for me. Is the high toe miss something that can be mitigated with the weight system or should I be looking at a different driver? I know I should go get fitted but don’t have time in the next couple of  weeks.

First - I love the signature - awesome!  Mine unfortunately would say I have 100s of clubs because I have a real problem 🙂 

 

After going from a high toe miss with the driver to centering the driver more often than not, I would say you have the wrong setup for you.  The high toe miss means that the driver is not returning to where you think it is going to return.

 

Most likely the head has drooped (shaft), and that lowers the toe - it can also bring the toe of the club in.  If you have seen a shaft movement during a swing it droops and flexes along the club path.  So droop lowers the toe and the in-path flex makes it move forward or back, depending on how it is releasing for your swing.

 

If you get the right shaft the club will work with you and not against you.  If you get on a launch monitor where you can see club data, you can vary the shaft and see how your strike changes.  You are also not a machine so you have to have that shaft be able to handle the ranges of your swings.  We have all heard is the Indian and not the arrow and that is not right all the time.

 

Depending on how you load the shaft it very well can be the club at fault.  If you are high toe, I would try more stiffness and more tip stiffness to start - if you go too stiff you are not going top get any help so a fitter can really help you out.

They will honor the price difference, but it has to be a purchase through email or over the phone - in other words - cutting out their fitters.  I appreciate the credit back, but I do not like to be put in a position of cutting out the people I work with, since it is money out of their pocket.

Got a 90 min fitting this Sunday.  Never hit PXG before but at these prices why not. Even though I get a Taylormade discount from a family member these prices are just as good.

@evoviiiyou do you find the XF draw biased? I thought it was advertised that way.  Not my preference, but I haven't hit the XF yet.  Thank you.

It is definitely a closed face (1-2*) in the standard and PXG setting (aliment of the AV carbon and graphics might even make it a another degree closed). If you wanted the forgiveness of the head but eliminate any draw bias, I would go with purchasing the higher loft head and then opening the face to drop loft back to where you want it. This with heavy weight either up front or rear port and lightest in the heel would be best to combat this for sure and still obtain the super high moi of this head. 
 

For me the better option has been just going with the Proto+ which is .5-1* open in the standard or PXG setting on the loft sleeve with heavy front port, 5gram in the toe and then the lightest weights in the heel and rear port. I named her Darth Fader as it has completely eliminated the left side for me (my old miss with SIM2MAX). Hope this helps.

Thank you.  I have the Proto X in 9. It's pretty good, but must admit I've thought about a new driver.  I don't like left either. If I purchased a new X would go 10.5 and open the face.  XF and 0211 had me thinking.  PXG price is great right now, but don't need either. Ha. Thanks again.
