Tour PXG Gen 4 prototype drivers - new putters

Interested to find out the magic tech in the 0811XT head. Proto is as fast and low spinning as anything on the market currently. I do think they could bring the launch angle down a bit though. My 9* proto launches noticeably higher than my 9* sim. Both set up with Ventus Blue 6x no tipping.

pxg definitely has a style about them.  A style I'm not digging.  

 

they should have changed their putter face milling this year.  It's been that deeper milling for a while now I think.

They tweeked the face slightly from Gen2.

Fitter mentioned last night April as of now. Consistent with Bob's insta comment a few weeks ago.

Ah. Kinda Sucks that they're waiting so long after all the others to bring out their new release. Seems kinda odd to release their lower-end line in the middle of release season and hold off on the flagship line until much later. I think I'll be buying a Gen 2 if the 9* comes back into stock at this point. That white on top is ugly as sin. Good incentive to save some money too.

That driver is horrific.  What a step down from last year in the looks department.  Making some odd moves PXG, not sure how taking the brand into mainstream pricing will work for them.

I was wondering about Gen 4 since I just got my Proto X+ dialed in. Now I am glad that I jumped on the reduced price. Don't like the 2 tone. Perhaps I am mentally weak but one of the things I like better about the Proto X+ is that it doesn't have the two tone top that my SIM Max had.  Will be interesting to see if the performance is a big improvement over the Proto X+, which seems like it might be hard to do.

It's a great putter. Easy alignment, great sound & feel.

Will be interested to see if any of the new PXG players they signed use the new driver or fairway woods...the irons are solid and the putters are as well...but with the new SIM2..TSi3 or TSi4 Or Epic to choose from...If they choose the Gen 4 driver then the performance is real.

Yeah the contrast is not settling but the design and tech seems awesome. The white dots on the face are a nice touch too.

Maybe pxg can chime in and explain the rational in going away from the what i thought was best crown of all drivers. Maybe a custom color option is coming? Im afraid all i would see is the white/gray top and not look at thd ball. I guess its just such a change....

I love the look of the Gen 2 woods and hybrids behind the ball.  With all four weights in the MOI position the Gen 2 woods are pretty forgiving and, conversely, very low spin with the four weights up front.  Pretty versatile woods IMHO.  Maybe not as hot as a Sim Ti off the face, but I don't need a 3 wood 15 yards behind my driver.

Honestly, I don't care what a club looks like as long as it will fly.   But, I do prefer black matte for my driver.   I will try this out (I use PXG irons) but this Driver at first look better go a lot longer and straighter then the Ping 425, which might be pretty difficult to do.

1.  One PXG Gen4 Driver;

2.  One roll xwide masking tape;

3.  One can Krylon matte black spray.

Looking back at the drivers they are growing on me. I like the visual representation of the AV carbon weave and the contrast for alignment. It’s like the opposite of the TM visual program and certainly unique amongst the current offerings. I bet they look even nicer in person per usual. 
 

The putters are always gorgisimo! Nice work PXG. They are clean with that sinister tech inspired look. If they offered custom lengths online to hit my 30” gamers length I would probably have a couple already. I like how several of them are blending the gen2 and proto/gen4 weights...even more customization options for fitment.
