I have the ping G400 and you could say it’s busy on top, but after a while you’ll get use to it. I believe in watching the face meet the ball so I can’t relate to getting perturbed by the crown.
If you can handle seeing turbulators on pings and the shaping you can handle seeing that section of the crown on the PXG.

That is a great point - the shape is the thing that is my hot button.  I can not handle closed at all, and I can not handle a "weird" shape.  So if the head is fat front to back with respect to heel toe, I do not like it.  I think that white patch would turn into something that you did not see - as long as it performed.  Much like hearing a crinkling bag during your shot - when you are playing well and tuned in, you do not hear it, but if you are playing badly the rabbit ears are very active 🙂

Exactly! Plus hearing performance numbers are better than Protos. If true, no way many won't buy this due to looks.

Wait.. what. More performance than the Proto??? If so, don’t care about the crown paint.

That bat attack looks so good. If Scotty doesn’t come out with a flow neck 5 with a milled face this year I could see myself going for the Bat Attack

Getting fitted for PXG putters on Friday hoping they have the new lineup including Mr Brandon 🙂

I was at HQ today for a putter fitting. The only “new” models I saw were the blackjack and the one and done. Definitely make sure your fitter uses the quintic putting machine to validate your results. Really cool data it provides!

Just gonna keep rocking my spider until they release the BA!  Then I’ll get one and when we agree that neither putter works for us we can swap!

Performance gains are marginal if you're lucky year on year with drivers. You'd be lucky to get a yard or two extra. The most important change I can see (cosmetics aside), is the huge change in face depth. If you like the Proto or Gen 2, you may not like this new head shape. Some heads just click with a swing for various reasons, and when they make a big change to the shape that's concerning. In the end your performance may drop from past models to Gen 4. Purported performance gains are so finicky in the real world. I wouldn't put much stock into claims like that.

How are you saying a huge change in face depth?  Do you have actual dimensions of the clubs?  I would imagine that these things have been analyzed big time to come up with initial prototypes and then iterated until they got demonstrably better performance for the majority of their testers or it would be suicide in the market  Not saying that it is impossible but I would have a hard time believing that PXG would do that.

I'm just going of visuals. It's visually much deeper than Gen 2 and Gen 3. My point wasn't that it would be much worse for everyone, but that someone who likes the previous generations may not like that change. The point is that so much of what we're talking about is subjective, so every change a company makes to its clubs will have positive and negative effects for different types of players.

Not sure how it can be any deeper faced than my Proto+.

It looks deeper than the previous X models, and I would say it looks deeper than the X+, but maybe at that point I'm splitting hairs.

I was trying to ferret out how they compared off those pictures and gave up.  It does appear that they are different shapes especially along the topline between the face and crown - it seems to rise up and then dive down at the toe.

It will be very cool to see them all side by side.  Yeah - who knows

Agree. But I did see a Bigfoot once in my golf bag. Terrible wedge it was!

Patience is a virtue, I guess except for Golfwrxers. Pretty sure PXG will spell out the gains once they formally roll it out. Then we'll all get to try it and see if it's works well for us or not.
