I think Taylor Made is targeting folks that play golf and not golf swing (those obsessed with numbers from TrackMan etc). Technology is about maxed out and with additional scrutiny into driver distance...there isn't much more they can do. I do agree dropping the sliding weight is a rather unusual move...so many out there that just have to have that in their driver...the new generation that have only hit modern technology and never learned to manipulate the ball with a driver like us old school guys....just a thought....

Was playing around with the mysim2 feature.. Wow.. Not sure I can convince the wifey I need this.. This would be a sick set up though..

Looks more stable with more consistent spin numbers.  Bryan golf added some hotmelt to get the weighting right and got some really good numbers out of it versus the stock head (I trust him over almost anyone mentioned in this thread besides TXG).  Some of the head to heads I have seen in person show that its right up there in ball speed, just a little more consistent spin.  I don't know what people were expecting.  I'd say it's a job well done minus a weight track.  Will probably see the weight track back next year, my guess non sliding but adjustable.

Watched all the reviews. Complete indifference.  This makes the decision to seriously look at the TSi3 that much easier.

Not sure about the blue aluminum (will us lot get an aluminium edition?), it looks like something you'd see on a cheap kids' mountain bike. I guess those black and white submissions to the USPGA have their benefits.

I am a huge TM fan but even I have thought about a TSi3 lol. I think it will be this years best driver. Still happy with my Sim though.

I have to say, I hope you're right with your 17 M2 analogy. The 17 M2 was much better for me than the 16 M2. I also didn't find a fit with the SIM even after tinkering with the backweight, etc. Getting fit on Friday, so we'll see what happens.

My theory is that this driver was not meant to replace the OG SIM, but to appeal to the market share of customers that did not fit into the SIM. For instance, I wanted to like the SIM but it did not fit my swing without some serious weighting adjustments. This SIM2 sounds like it would be right up my alley. If you own a SIM and are happy with it, I dont think this is made to get you off that. If SIM was not right for you, this was made to bring you over. Just my theory

Does Anybody else observe similarities in the Sim2 and Cobra Radspeed’s weighting concept, i.e. focussing weight on the front & rear, to boost MOI?

+1 re @Shupe’s above observation, w.r.t. Sim2’s focus on Spin robustness /consistency (ie similar to the Cobra 🐍)

I hit the SIM2 last night an absolutely loved it. First driver since 2016 that I have even considered switching to. 

 

Then again I was hitting a proper shaft and actually testing it like an intelligent human being before I just immediately disliked it... unlike some YouTubers that may be popular.

saw a lot of videos, i guess what i took away is that it's critical to get fit for the right shaft. i am not in the market for a new driver but the 3W looks better than last years. i still have the M5 and love the smaller head but i will definitely hit the 3W and see if i like it.

more of your launch stats are dependent on the proper shaft than what head you are playing. it really grinds ma gears when these guys who influence 100s of thousands of people have no idea what they are doing with their own clubs.

Yeah I've seen the review videos. Seems like a refinement of the SIM, which is logical and obviously won't inspire the same kind of excitement as a brand new line. Unfair to use this as a criticism.

And one step further.  Posters in here using those videos as evidence that one driver is better than another.  The same “get fitted crowd” will use an influencers 15 minute video to condemn a product.  I don’t know if the SIM 2 will work for me or not but pretty sure the fact that DJ isn’t playing it won’t make a difference.

yessir. the hypocracy is incredible. Im really dissapointed in Finch. Him and I have similar profiles so I always use his change in numbers to give me SOME idea of what I might want to test for myself, but him literally saying that it doesnt make sense that a shaft would change the club really put a sour taste in my mouth. These guys have way too big of an audience influence to be making videos that show them in such amateur taste.

Hit the SIM2 today. In my opinion, its tweaks off the og SIM. This years is easier to turn over, and just slightly easier to launch. I was able to hit the 9 degree no problem where as last years i had to go up to the 10.5 and crank down to 9.75. 
 

Basically its a slightly lower spinning deeper face 2020 SIM Max. Good, but the og SIM is staying in the bag.

I'm excited to hit the drivers and fairways. I don't mind the colors on the stock head, but after messing around with the MySIM2 I would love one with all black/gray coloring.

Totally agree, however, most of them I would assume would want to murder it out, but that doesn't market well.  I've always wanted to go custom colors on stuff, but it seems kind of trashy to me for some reason when no one else does.

The only issue is I cannot justify the cost just to "look" different.. There is no performance difference. Other than the potentially shaft upgrade.

I love this. I think blacking everything out and then giving your favorite color to the aluminum creates a really pleasing topline at address, and gives a "unique" look for everyone. My credit card is in trouble
