Thats funny because I am the exact opposite. I cant confidently hit the SIM, but SIM2 just throws itself at the ball for me.

Looks much better than the normal offering.  It’s a shame you cannot design the fwys too.

IF TM allowed custom design for the FW, Hybrids, my wallet would be in big trouble.

I can see that being how things proceed in the future. At this point companies bob back and forth between flat out performance and forgiveness/adjustability it seems. As much as they'd love to sell a new driver yearly to the same guy, but realistically they know that isn't the norm, so they change up the offering a bit each go round. Adding in customization gives them another angle

It's not really a surprise that initial technology adoption was geared towards the better players, Ones who demand and can actually take advantage of major technology improvement. Keep in mind that "major improvements" here still really mean a few percentage here and there, and the absolute results are really marginal at best. Then reality sets in that most avg players can't handle what little forgiveness that was provided so more forgiving models gets introduced to suit the mass market. 

 

Think back to SLDR, when it was considered a game changer for TM design that they broke their product cycle to introduce it. It was a bomber, (probably still is on par with a lot newer ones) but it was so unforgiving that it became the most returned driver of all time. Then a bunch of newer models were introduced, even one with the sliding weight removed, none can out-do the original but provided more forgiveness.

 

As many have pointed out, the same appeared to be true with 2016/17 M1/2 lines. I personally always skipped at least one year when considering new drivers, went from R11 to SLDR to 17 M1 to M5. I didn't play the SIM so I can't say how unforgiving it is but it certainly sounds like many didn't find it easy to hit. It would totally make sense for them to come up with an more forgiving design, so the ones who bought in on the SIM and didn't quite have things work out can now go spend more $ for what would be better suited for them. And those who didn't get SIM now have a "new and improved" SIM to upgrade to. 

 

I am sure everyone here on GolfWRX can bomb their SIM 350+ yds every time, and probably won't see any gains by switching, other than simply play the latest. For everyone else, which is like 95% of golfers, there are very good reasons to upgrade.  The price tag is a whole other matter though...

Idk it’s like most of the people in these threads argue about the consumerism aspect but buy another brands newest clubs. It’s almost like y’all gotta compensate for something and it isn’t your skill. Lol 

All this “I don’t need it” and “ I love my sim”..... but I bought/looking at the TSi3/other brands longest driver though like sthu

Eh thats kinda weak. Cant speak for others but I will always try or test new stuff, just for sake of curiosity. Im keeping my sim, played today, and hit 9/10 fairways. Driving it better and longer than ever.

I’m more of the type to get good with what I have although I’m not against hitting what’s new. I’m just not into buying new new every year. 
I can add I changed the shaft in my driver to the ping tour shaft and was swinging it pretty solid, was getting it out past 200 rolling to the 250 in cold/winter weather w range balls so I feel that energy 💪🏻👍🏻
