Titleist 620 CB 3-PW, Vokey SM8 50* (bent to 51*)

Almost new set of Titleist 620 CB irons 3-PW with Project X 6.0 (not LZ’s). These have only been hit a few times at the range.

So the story on these. I ordered this set in August after a demo day. What was quoted as two weeks became 2 months. I ordered them 1/2” over standard and standard lie. In the interim I built a set of irons using Tom Wishon’s method of using 3/8” increments instead of 1/2”, resulting in longer short irons and slightly shorter long irons. Well I got so used to it by the time I finally received the 620’s I was hitting all the short irons off the toe so I ended up extending the 6-PW slightly to give me the 3/8” increments. The 3-5 are still the factory 1/2” over. I can pull the extensions from the 6-PW for the buyer to get them back to factory specs.

The Vokey SM8 has the same Project X shaft and was ordered at the same time as the 620’s.

Next is a set of Hogan Grind irons 3-E. Very good condition for a nearly 30 year old set of forged irons. Apex 4 stiff shafts, 1/2” over standard.

Question: Curious is that slight difference results in needing to manipulate the Swing Weight as heads were originally built to 1/2" gaping.

I’ve always built my irons this way . It doesn’t effect swing weight near as much as playing them longer than standard to begin with. But us tall guys are used to heavier swingweights or more often , we use heavier grips ( midsize ) anyway which balances it out.

Yes, it does alter swingweight a bit. If you are looking to have perfect swingweight match using this method you would need to add a bit of weight at the head. The difference in a couple of swingweight points do not bother me though. It’s an easy experiment to reverse by removing the extensions.
