I'm not glad. I want to watch, but what they are doing is worrying. Our media is propagandizing every show in their family of networks.

Absolutely are.  It’s unwatchable if you have any sort of sense of understanding of what you’re seeing.

It's not like they cancelled his show after 2 seasons.   8-10 years is about average.  Not too shabby.

What people don't get is that David's quirkiness, while annoying at times, helped his guests relax and brought forward discussion.  More importantly, he was prepared and didn't ask dumb questions.

I didn't watch the show much because I found his trying-too-hard-to-be-funny persona quite off-putting, right from the opening titles to the various desk or audience segments in-between the interview pieces. Which is a shame, because his interviews were often quite good. The difference being, I think, that the set pieces were either him or someone who wrote for him trying to be funny, whereas what came across in the interviews was his natural wit.

My thoughts exactly.

Yup. It's already been creeping into Golf Digest and Golf Magazine. People hate it, want to escape it, but they keep shoving it down our throats. Almost as if it's "programming."

As for Feherty, I'd like when he interviewed golfers, but didn't care to watch the episode of anyone else. He had some good episodes. Keegan Bradley's episode was pretty good and I'm not the biggest fan of him.

Yeah.  When in my first few years of starting golf in the early 2000s I read Golf Digest from cover to cover and had a subscription to it.  It was great at first as but things started to sour when the Hot List came out (and you know whoever pays them the most, gets the gold) and started be more like TMZ as they covered more on the personal lives of the guys on tour and lifestyle fluff pieces.

Now these days it is so unreadable for me I don't even bother downloading it for free thanks to Bittorrent.

The shows are unwatchable. The news is terrifying if you understand the blatant lies they are telling people night after night.

Yep.  Absolutely!  And it’s infuriating to see it come to sports shows too.

There's a big part of me that is glad Golf Channel is headed down the route of political and social discussion throughout their programming. It's enabled me to easily turn it off like I've done everything else. I have been reading more and spending less time watching TV. I cant tell you the last time I watched sports center on espn or anything on espn that wasn't a college football game or golf tournament. Golf channel is trending the same way. This may lead to me cutting cable altogether and just getting pgatourlive for me and disney+ for my rugrats.

100% agree. Since all this lockdown stuff you’d think more TV would be watched than ever, but myself and most of the people I know are watching much less. Sport center and most of ESPN is unwatchable now, I never watch golf channel unless it’s actual tournament coverage. TV is pure garbage these days.

I think it must be incredibly stressful being a comedian or the designated funny guy. People expecting you to be funny all the time even if you're not feeling it.

I felt the same way about McCord, especially towards the end. When he was interviewed on Feherty's show he mostly played the straight guy and managed to be quite amusing because he's fairly weird naturally. Totally unfunny when he's forcing it.

Told me wife yesterday that as soon as our contract is up, cable is gone. I'll do PGA tour live and disney+ for my sons. Golf channel was the only reason I had cable.

What could they possibly have to replace him with? Was his contract that big?

Nothing. Whatever they are replacing David with will make them more money. I’m a fan of the Golf Channel, but does everyone understand how pitiful the ratings are?

Best show on the Golf Channel...bar none! David, I will add you to my group anytime we go golfing....just call !!

 Congratulations on 10 years running!!

10 year is a good run.  There was a show I saw that might be on Prime or something where Jim Bones McKay talked to golfers on the course.  They would set up tricky shots and ask them how to play them.  For example, the one episode I saw they had to try to keep it low under a tree branch.   I think another shot was lay up before water or try to go for the green.  It had club selection, strategy, technique, etc.   The show was really good and different.   Looks like it started in 2020.

Great interviewer but I prefer Peter Kessler back in the day since Kessler doesn't try to make a fool out of himself for a cheap laugh from us.

Too bad Arnold fired him.

The Golf Channel had the production quality of a public access station, aka wayne's world, in the early days. I couldn't figure how Kessler ever got a chance to sleep. He was on all the time, from the crack of dawn to midnight.  It had much more of a home grown feel back then.

Feherty was a great addition, especially early in the show's run. He still had a view into the tour from his playing days and did great interviews.

I found his shows to generally excellent, witty, and insightful.  At this point there is nothing golf-related on TV that gets my attention at all.  Even watched the Rolex 24 hr IMSA Daytona race this weekend rather than golf.  And if TW doesn't get competitive after his last surgery my golf life will go back to just playing it.
