Well.... I felt much better last week.  So i decided to go play.

Hit a  block drive on one  into right rough behind a palm tree.  Nice punch wedge, left me 105yds to a receptive green.  Thats a good yardage for my gap wedge....hit a good shot..to about 15 feet, kept posture.  Then....I stood up and immediately felt my low back seizing.

By the time i got to green....i decided to call it, couldnt address the ball to putt.

 

Went to chiropractor a few days later...he told me my left hip was 1'' higher than the right!  Felt way better after adjustment.  I have 2 more adjustments this week...and hope to hit balls next week!  I plan to get monthly adjustments from here on in.

I am also going to give Cobra Forged One length irons a try....see if the longer wedges are more back friendly!,

After last 2 chiropractic sessions....back is feeling good.  I also got a Tens muscle stimulating device, which use before golfing and stretching.  

I played this past Tuesday, felt way better and my golf showed it!

Seriously, take a break, no harm done.  Maybe look into some fitness options and focus on that for a bit, sit and look at the Pacific (I could do that all day).  When you come back your body is ready to embrace practice/play/maybe some changes if you hook up with an instructor.

 

I've lost parts large and small of most of the past 7-8 seasons with various injuries and surgeries (luckily no back issues) and parts of golf still hurt, but sometimes you just need to shut it down for a bit.  

 

Just because you are 62 doesn't mean you are losing ground on Father Time by taking time off.  I'd argue you are driving yourself into an early golf grave by continuing as you've described.  If you want to freak out over losing ground, sit and look at snow and often subzero temps for several months every year!

 

A productive break, prioritizing, and you may come back fresh and ready for new challenges!  Or you'll find out you love chasing butterflies and bird watching or needlepoint or mountain biking - great!

I have many times last year. Arthritis in my hand. Years of IBM 3890 PMs, plus knee issues. Plus the courses are so jammed packed with people it is tough getting a time.

Not yet. Had MRI on Thursday. Surgeon consult Friday. Surgeon wants me to do RFA (Radiofrequency Ablation). Going to get that scheduled  in the next few weeks. Not very hopeful anymore. If the Nerve block and the steroid injection didn't work, I don't know how this will. We'll see ....

 You never know. My MRI pinpointed a problem I'd had for 20 years.

God I hope that's what we learn from it. Just very frustrated and getting depressed. To not be able to do what I truly love is ... not fun.
