Vokey SM8 M Grind Collection

Recommended Posts

Just seen that Titleist  are going to be offering the Vokey M grind in a new collection, with 50, 52 & 54.

I have wanted an M grind in a 52 for such a long time. Thoughts?

I think that's good for guys like me using a 52/58 set up. In that case a more versatile 52 is pretty important.

Are the releasing a 52 D as well?

I played the m for several years... Then I found the D.  The D is much better for me.  I'm not a digger at all, pretty shallow actually.  I just like to use the bounce more, which the D is great at doing.  I found myself with the occasional chunk and thin shot with the M.

Couldn't agree more, I'm shallow as well but found the D grind to be much better than the M grind as I can engage the bounce for a more fool-proof shot.  M proved particularly unforgiving in soft midwest conditions I usually have to deal w/ in Chicagoland.  Also - it's not even close out of the sand, the D grind is the best club out of the sand I've ever played.

I still keep the M around for trips to super dry / firm areas, as that is the only time I really feel that the D grind falls a bit short.

I would LOVE for this with the D in that 50 and 52 range.  I found the sole more all-around on my current and prior mack daddy line than the F-grind so I've stayed there but would definitely entertain D-Grind in 50 or 52 in the future.  I wonder if SM9 (or whatever name) would offer from 50 and up in F, D, M, and S.

I have an M grind in a 60* but the F grind in my 54*.

Since I use my 54* for full shots and not around the greens it doesn't make sense to get it in a lower bounce for me personally. However, If you are using you gap wedge for short pitch shots and bunker shots then I could see it being beneficial.

I've always played a high bounce F in my 54.  Just switched to a 54D lofted up to a 56.  Really like it so far.  Will see if it makes it through the whole season in the bag.

I'd say it depends on the conditions you frequently play.  The only time I find the D a bad fit is off of super firm / dry / packed lies - however, I rarely run into these type of conditions and when I do, I can turn to my 54S.10.

Otherwise, if you like it in the 54 I don't see why you wouldn't love it in the 60

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
