Anyone carrying a 4 and 5 wood?

Currently have a 3 driving iron in the bag, don’t hit it much further than my 4 iron and there is a massive gap between my 4 iron and 4 wood, around 40 yards (actually a 3 HL wood at 16.5*) thinking about putting my old 5 wood v steel in its place. Obviously going to do some range time and hope to see it fill that gap but I was curious if anyone has a similar set up?

I have played a hot 3wood set to what is considered a 4wood in the past with a really consistent older 5wood for good gapping.  It’s not unusual.  A couple our guys play 3woods over 15 degrees and still carry a 5 wood.

I play a 17* Rogue 4w and a 19* G410 hybrid normally.

Sometimes I switch out the hybrid for a Xhot 19* 5w for certain courses or just for a change of pace. I hit the 5w a lot higher than the hybrid, but can play more shots with G410 hybrid.

Kinda...17* 4 wood and a 19* hybrid but thinking about dropping the 19* hybrid and 24* utility iron.

I play Ping G410 5 and 7 woods. The 5 is a 17.5° turned down to 16.5° and the 7 is a 20.5°. Then 4 iron. Really liking this setup now.

My bag is driver, 4w, 5w, 7w, 5i

 

The 4w is a 917f2 at 16.5°.  The head is a bit larger than the 917f2 at 18°.  Titleist just gives loft and no numbers so you can call the 16.5° whatever you want.  The gap between 5i and 7w is a little larger than ideal but it's close enough.

Since 2012, i have played some combo of 4W + 7W. Changed models a couple of times, but that's the essence.

 

Several fitters have said they recommend 3W + 5W or 4W + 7W. if you can hit the 4i, 7W will really help.

 

On PGA tour, Dustin Johnson, Jason Dufner, Sung Kang and others have 7W as their second fairway.

Yep.  Right now. Subzero mavrik 4 and 5.  The 4 is a cannon.  The 5 launches high . Gaps nicely.

For a couple of years now I have been carrying an Adams 16* which I call a 4 wood. Others say it is a 3 wood then for now I go 20* hybrid and 22* hybrid

If you put the heavy weight in the rear , it gets up quickly and just goes.  The 3 just went too far.  May as well drop driver as to carry the 3 wood.

Sounds like you could use a hybrid. Tons of options out there.

TS2 4W 16.5* then TS2 7W 21* then 23* Cobra baffler hybrid (currently the oldest club in my bag) which all gap decently for my purposes.

I am playing a 4 wood at 16 and a 5 wood at 19.5. I would consider it more of a 4 and 6 wood but my gaps are really good. That’s all that matters.

Seems like I'm seeing more pros using 5 woods.  I put one in last month... Game changer for me.  Awesome!

After seeing the original post, this was my gut reaction. Distance loss could be from not getting enough air, and the lower and further back CG on a hybrid could help.

I was just thinking of doing this exact thing yesterday. I just bought a TS2 16.5. I already have a 917f2 18 I play at 18.75*.  I need to do a gap test to see how they match up. If they play well together, I can go back and forth between the 5W and a Sub 70 699 Pro Utility iron, depending on course. 
 

In my one round with the TS2 16.5, it seemed like I was hitting it as far as my 917f2 13.5 set at 15*. If so, I’m just going to bench the 13.5.
