Couples back to the Bridgestones?

Recommended Posts

Just saw Freddie hit out of a fairway bunker  at the Mitsubishi and he had his old Bridgestone J40DPC(J15) iron in hand.

Any idea of he’s back to old faithful after a brief affair with the i210s?

Will Freddy be putting the i210’s on the BST? I wonder what color code they are. Just asking for a friend.😂

The more I watch the clip appears to me his old M3

In a way Fred Couples is like many of this on this forum. On occasion our eyes wander and we make equipment decisions that despite our best intentions don't always work out. While we may have more than one more brand in the basement, if we really like something we will buy a back up set (me - J15cb)

Maybe Fred saw the success the Ping  i210 was having on tour and while not the newest and shiniest on the block he made the change. It could have also been that he wanted to join the Ping family and was looking forward to the annual barbecue with the likes of many PGA and LPGA players attending including Bubba.

It appears that Fred could not get over the cold hard cast steel in the i210 vs the warm soft forged J15 DPF (probably a little weathered)  with those two deep cavities. The Bridgestones returned his loyalty with a round of 63 yesterday.

The i210's (4-PW, black dot, Power Spec) don't really appeal to me that much - but it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Just because he's using old trusted clubs doesn't necessarily mean he's given up on the Pings.  Any wise tour player does not put new clubs into tournament play until he's really comfortable with them.  Irons are treated very different from driver shafts.

They were never the J15s.  They were 38’s stamped as 40’s.

One offs for him

The I210's are anything but cold hard cast irons.
