PXG Love...

Recommended Posts

Have been on the market for a 4 hybrid lately and was considering the G410 line and titleist offerings because of the flat lie angle settings they offered. I normally play a draw that turns into a hook when I’m swinging poorly.

Stumbled upon PXGs recent sale on their Gen 2 hybrids and did some research since I’d never thought of playing PXG or have even looked at their offerings. Was excited to see all the various flat lie angle adjustments and how they had the ability to move the weight out to the toe. Luckily they had a mobile fitter at one of the courses near me so I went and got fit and fell in love! The crew over at PXG were awesome to work with and I loved the shaft options.

Ended up fitting into the Gen 2 22° head with the Mitsubishi MMT shaft in their 3° flat setting and weights out to the toe. This thing is the best of all the hybrids I had previously looked at. Flat setting, adjustable weight, muted sound and solid feel and the head shape is in the middle of the bigger hybrids say Sim max and the smaller ones like the original callaway apex. Not to mention I paid $175 for a completely custom fit PXG hybrid.

If you were like me and hadn’t paid attention to PXG because of the perception of their clubs being overpriced. I definitley recommend taking a look at their offering especially while their on sale!

Welcome to the club. PXG woods & hybrids are sleepers, and many on here can attest to them being great clubs. I love mine very much.

I had the 0311T irons and liked them but wasnt wowed.  And at those prices at the time, I was never going to give them a real chance.  BUT... fast forward to now and these more friendly prices caught my eye on the woods so I grabbed a 0811 XF driver with the Smoke Yellow and after 2 rounds, I am LOVING this thing.  So much so that I bought a 19* hybrid, then a Blackjack putter, and also a 15* Gen 2 3w.  I am a believer in them now and love the performance I am getting as well as sound and feel.

Gen2 hyburritos are the best I have hit. I game the 17 turned to 16 and the 22 turned to 21 with the MMT 80S PL tips. Just solid and consistent is the best way to describe them. Also very close in terms of distance to my CLK’s from MIzuno.

PXG hybrids are the best on the market. Hands down. You can see from my bag that I like PXG products, but the hybrids are just so good.

Love the MMT. Was switching between the HZRDUS smoke, riptide, and MMT during the fitting and found the MMT was launched higher than the HZRDUS with a more consistent spin rate but was more stable than the riptide. I’d be interested in trying the heavier MMTs as an iron shaft in the future!

Agree with all of the above. The PXG hybrids are the only ones that knocked out my very dependable Adams Pro A12 Hybrids. And we all know how good they are!!!!!

Looks like Kevin Na plays the Gen 2 hybrid in the last Witb I saw too and as a free agent that doesn’t change clubs often I feel like that gives it some confirmation of how good it is.

Any reason you are not gaming a PXG 3w?  I bought a VG condition Gen 2 3w just because and hoping its every bit as good as the hybrid and XF driver....  Just curious if you have any input on the FWW.

Good question. My TaylorMade 3 wood is a hold out in my bag and will be getting replaced with a PXG wood. Just can’t decide the get Gen2, 0211, or wait for Gen4.

Gen 2 is pretty darn good. I tee off with mine a lot because it's a reliable club, distance and accuracy. Off the deck it's surprising easy to hit. I'm going to check out the Gen 4, if it's not any better, then I'll look into other shaft options for my 3W.

0211 FW is probably going to be good too, but you don't have the weight adjustment of the Gen 2 to dial in the flight.

Edit: Forgot to mention the current price of the Gen 2 is $145! You can't beat that imo.

What shaft do you have in your Gen2? I am playing a TM M4 and need a little more launch off the deck. At my course I play the 3 wood off the deck in all Par 5’s. Gen2 easy to launch you say?

Yea, on PXG website only the 5 and 7 Gen2 woods are available. 3 wood must be sold out.

I have found the Gen 2 fairways to be a few mph slower than say a TM Sim Ti wood, but they are far more adjustable.  You can go low spin or higher MOI along with fade or draw bias all in a compact head that sounds and feels outstanding.  Once dialed in, they are an extremely consistent fairway wood.  I prefer that over a 3 wood that travels nearly the same distance as a driver.

NV Green in 75g. It's been good for me in this club. Yes, imo, it's easy to hit from the deck. YMMV.

Have you called PXG and asked if they have any 3W left? When I bought my wedges, they were sold out online, but my fitter called them and they had a few left.

Thank. No, have not called. I was in the HQ last weekend and looked at the Gen2 3 wood head vs the 0211 and the 0211 is bigger, which scares me off the deck. I don’t use a 3 wood off the tee very often.

Gen2 may be the ticket then.

I was fitted for the 0211 3 wood and hit it off the deck just fine. I didnt compare the head size with the Gen 2 or even my M6 that i brought but it doesnt appear any bigger than normal.

They make great hybrids, didn't love the woods.  Just ordered 3 hybrids and some irons for my wife, the prices were too good to pass up and she has been wanting some new clubs.  She played her Ping irons for 10 years so I should be good for a while.  Helps me justify all the stuff I buy off here!! 😎

The hybrids were an underrated club for a long time. Now that the prices have fallen in line with and are even cheaper than some of the other big OEMs they really seem to be catching on. I actually still love my gen 1 17 degree. I find it less likely to go right on me (I'm a lefty) than the gen 2 I bought to replace it.

I just got fitted this morning and ordered the 0311 P Gen 2's....still on sale for $129 each.  Thought I'd go with the 0311 XF for the 4 iron...nope...the XF felt very head heavy and awkward even though the swing weight of the XF was supposed to be identical to the P.  Never thought I'd ever return to forged, but these felt awesome....if you make a halfway decent pass at the ball on a regular basis, there is zero reason to go with the XF's....unless you prefer your lofts jacked up that much more than usual.
