Going Cord..I think

Thinking of going to cord grips this season. Play in NY..been debating as I think I’ll like the feeling of a little extra texture and sometimes I feel like I am losing my grip. I know their are 100 posts on this topic and seems to be a lot of opinion. But I’ll ask anyway..any opinions on my first go round and what benefits I’ll get? Thinking TV Cord SS S-Tech Cord or UTx as what I’m looking at

Depends what you’re looking for feel wise. Something a little firmer the Golf Pride Z Cord, a little softer Tour Velvet Cord, MCC is a good suggestion too if you’re switching to them for the first time.

Intrigued by GP TV Cord and S-Tech Cord..but I can’t find any reviews on it

Played the TVFC's for years until the NDMC's came out.  The newer cord in the TVFC doesnt feel like the old ones and I switched and havent looked back.  Never been a fan of any Lamkin grips, so I cant comment on those.  Throw one on a 7 iron and the other on an 8 and test it out..

MCC or the Z cord is the way to go IMO. I think they’re both great. Have switched back and forth over time.

Last year was my first full season using cord grips after using Tour Velvet or similar forever.  I went with Lamkin UTx and am planning to use them again this year.  Really enjoyed the enhanced grip on the club but also thought they weren't as rough on the hands as some of the other cord grips I've handled over the years.

I've played tour velvet cords on most of my clubs the past few years, and I've really liked the extra texture, especially in the summer when my hands sweat some. A regular tour velvet feels like a baby's butt to me now. I've also had one of the z grip cords, and while it definitely has more texture, it feels too firm for me and I wouldn't get it again.

I'm a fan of cords and I haven't tried the ss s-tech cords but tried their version of the multi compound and was not very impressed with the grip. The cord portion didn't have the bite/grip that I like in a cord and got a little slick when my hands sweat. I didn't try roughing them up with sand paper but I don't plan to go back. Ymmv.

I played UTx for the last 3rd of the of 2020, but found I liked them more when I was holding just the uninstalled grip or setting up with the club. Making swings not so much. I went to cord for a little more traction, but in the end it wasn't worth what I lost in feel. Currently making the switch into Lamkin ST+2 hybrid.

My current favourite cord is the now discontinued Lamkin Players Cord. I prefer it to the UTx.

 

I've heard good things about the Genesis cord but have not tried them myself.

I have the Genesis 360 coming on my P770, and I have the TVC on a few clubs to try out. I will go with one of those this year. I have been playing the MMC the last few years, but I want something full cord. Never liked the UTX, the rubber was too soft for me, I had wear marks pretty quickly where my thumb sat on the club. The Genesis cord comes out a bit more than the TVC so I like that better, but not sure if the Genesis will be soft like the UTX or not, that would be the deal breaker for me.
