Brooks Koepka M5 vs Sim or Sim2?

Does anyone know why he plays the M5 vs one of the newer offerings?  Is it that he can get the M5 to play “in between” the two newer pairs of drivers?  Thanks!

I mentioned in another thread; very different head designs. The M5 is higher CG, and I suspect Brooks strikes the ball a little higher on the face due to his negative AOA. It also could just be a head shape preference or something like that.

Agree with you.  I don’t have an official answer but I’d bet his gains with SIM don’t out-weight whatever comfort M5 gives him.

I think it was the Houston tournament before the masters he played decently. 
 But he tried the sim the first 2 days and drove it all over the place and then switched back to the m5 over the weekend and was like a totally different person off the tee.

What does in between mean ? I’d say it’s just that the head hits the fade he’s looking for without manipulation.

Bingo.  In general, the OEMs are making advances year after year ON AVERAGE for the AVERAGE PERSON.  But if you know the different CG placements, the associated trade-offs, and how you are swinging/hitting the ball, it will be apparent that the newest, latest and greatest design my actually be worse for you.

 

Also, look at his three wood.  Again, not saying there are no advances in clubs but the gains are not that big when you are already flushing it most of the time.

Yeah, as a high power guy with a favored shot shape and slightly unusual delivery mechanics, comfort is probably more important to him than most.

Rory had him by 20-30 yards...60 on one hole..maybe he needs a SIM2  ...stop trying to break driver shafts
