Rich Lerner now turning this into the Warren Commission.  The volunteer clearly said she didn't see it bounce.  Brandel's off on this palming the ball thing --- lol, let's get Tiny Archibald in on that one but not bring it into this discussion, haha.

Kinda looks like a grassy knoll ...

I found P.Reeds Golfwrx account

Warning  for what ?  Following the rules ? Or keeping his cool while being asked the same question 367 times by reporters hell  bent on making up a story ,?    bottom line. No rules were broken

Which is the root issue. A double standard based on reputation. You can’t penalize him today for something that he might have done in a college locker room.  That’s where twitters mind is.

The Tour are liars when it comes to protecting their players. We know they have lied (see DJ suspension in 2014). For the Tour to tell Reed he did everything right when Tackett was on TV earlier saying the opposite only encourages Reed to continue to bend the rules. Slugger White did the same coddling at the Hero in 2019.

this is indefensible

Could be any random depression he landed in, certainly in the realm of possibility. It's the ground.

All this is "if they did it they way I would to it, then such and such".

Again, no Reed fan here, but come on --- and now Brandel on about talking with other Tour players, whatever.

The rules officials aren't having any heartburn over this, that really should be it.

I know it won't be it!

What he’s saying sounds legit to me. If seven people say it didn’t bounce and they don’t have immediate access to replay, how else should he proceed?

I think the general dislike of PR is skewing some opinions.

We smell blood.  We can’t help it.

I'm not a Reed fan, in any way shape or form....but I can assure you tour players NEVER call a rules official to check on an imbedded ball. If there is an question after the ball is marked and removed then an official is called. Reid did everything by the book.

That being said he's a fkn cheat and more than likely caused in the indentation in the ground 😂.

Brandel, is a hype machine.. lol

No, she said she didn’t “see it bounce”...big difference.

Not that it is overly important, but of course it is possible. It all depends on the ground conditions. You can drop a ball from six inches and have it plug if it’s soft enough.

But the more important question, is there actually video of him doing that.  I asked earlier, and if there is, I’ll shut and go away.

He touches the ground, no way to tell if he's "pressing"!

So your argument is that from 200 yards the ball can land in heavy rough and take a good bounce but then drop a few feet further and embed? That’s just trolling.

The volunteer never said that it didn’t bounce.  She just said that she didn’t see it bounce, when Reed asked her if she saw it bounce.   Just because the volunteer said she didn’t see it, doesn’t mean that it didn’t bounce.  He should have called someone in.   Why call in someone after the fact?  If he he thinks that he did it right, he should have not had to call in the rules official. If he needed clarification or a ruling, he should have done it before he picked it up.   The dude is a cheater, plain and simple.  Multiple offenses, not just this one...

Just watched the video. There is absolutely no way someone can watch that and say he was definitely  pressing the ball down. And while he definitely did not hold the ball in just two fingers, there is also no way anyone can say he cleaned the ball.

People’s dislike of Reed are clouding their views.

You can kinda see the weight shift.. It is hard to tell..

GC already called him a villan..

Golf Central just did. Brandel went over it. Reed was touching it for a while; Brandel said 6 different motions. The ONLY time you should pick your ball up in a PGA Tour event is if you are absolutely certain that you have done so for legal reasons. The rules say you have to be “reasonably” sure. This is Reed who was certain that he didn’t improve his lie at the Hero in 2019. Patrick’s idea of reasonableness is unreasonable.

😀Hi E!  I don’t really even care, pretty indifferent about Reed. I just really think his past is playing a huge, huge part in this.

I’m kind of in agreement with you on this.  I mean if I saw Patrick I’d be happy to say “don’t shank this one, Pat”

But I think this latest drama looks fishy but it doesn’t seem a rule was broken.

All I know is if Miller was still in the booth he’d be talking about Hogan puking.

Sorry I missed that, been flipping back to basketball. The highlights I saw didn’t show anything close to six motions to the ball. Guess I’ll stay on GC for a bit.

I’ll quote you again since you said I’m trolling. Two people, a rules official and motormouth (Chamblee) both just said they have seen balls imbed after a bounce.

All I need to know is that Patrick Reed himself said that it’s pretty much impossible for a ball that bounced to embed yet this one was magically embedded by the time he was done messing around and the rules official arrived.

Yes he said that, but Reed hedged himself by saying that he thought his ball didn’t bounce twice and he was looking at a direct embedding because a volunteer said that to him

No. The available evidence at the time was it didn’t bounce. The bounce part is only in hindsight. Not part of the equation of that moment.

Reed picked up the ball to determine if it was embedded before the official came over. Ken Tackett not a fan of that.

Not a doubt in my mind that he would apply pressure to the ball to ensure that it was "embedded".

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
