Playing the Correct Tees?

The course is currently very wet, and I was getting no more than 10 yds of rollout. Interesting that the chart assumes 25+ yds of rollout. 

 

 

 

 

That's awesome, but the problem with that, most guys who get on trackman and see their drives are only going 175-200, are going to think that the unit is defective or not reading something right.  I experienced that in person at Cog Hill last time I was on their range "I know I hit it around 280 so I'm not sure why it's only showing 205".

after some illness and surgery I became very short off the tee for my age.  I can tell you GOLF SUCKS when you have to hit three wood into every green.  I moved up a box and have never been happier

I see that as well.  I was playing with a buddy who is rather new to the game and we were playing from the whites (middle tees - approx 6100 yards) and we get to a par 4 that on the card for whites says 400 yards.  He hit a really good drive in the middle of the fairway and I scoped the yardage for him and he had 100 yards to the pin.  "Wow I hit a 300 yard drive!"  No, he didn't.  The white tee box was moved up to the back of the senior tee box which is about 40 yards in front of the normal white tee box and the pin was front on a very large green.  So 400 was really playing about 335 yards. A 235 yard tee shot for a newbie is nothing to sneeze at but I can see how others would do the same and assume they drive the ball further than they actually do.

There's actually a reason for different tees ... 😉

 

As a young man, I always played the longest, was a fanatic (and full of ego). Was also a pretty good golfer. 

 

These days (64), I just play for fun. Don't bother to enter scores to maintain a handicap. Nothing left to prove to myself. Play for the pleasant surroundings. The exquisite feeling of hitting a forged iron pure. Occasionally draining a long putt. The 19th hole with my buddies. 

 

The white tees are fully sufficient, and quite enjoyable.
