TSi4 news?!

Not directed at me but....coming from the TS4 I found the same thing with the new TSi line. 5 more mph ball speed with the same club speed. TSi3 is on order. I will be using my current shaft though....PX Riptide CB.

I picked up ballspeed too. 3 on average over the sim max I hit all last year.  And I m in the tsi2.  Can’t call titleist “ slow off the Face “ anymore.

im in it with a Diamana TB 70x.  Snd im just launching balls .   And it has no duck hook in it.  The tsi4 has me curious. But as well as I’m hitting the 2 I won’t try one unless  it just falls in my lap.

I'm curious to know if someone with your speed would be looking at the TSi4? I recall you smothering that TSi3, but was curious to hear your thoughts. 🙂

I can almost guarantee that I won't give it a serious go. The shape of TSi3 is absolutely perfect, the acoustics match and I don't like the look of the 4 nearly as much. I also don't chase spin numbers or what I would call insignificant gains in ball speed. I literally dropped the money on TSi3 and put the TS3 on the shelf for the looks, sound and feel. The 4 isn't floating my boat.

Just curious.

Since COR/CT/whatever has more or less been maxed out for 15+ years now, to what would you attribute an additional 5 mph ball speed ?

And forgiveness ? How'd that work out ? The "4" is reputed to be a fair bit less forgiving than the others.

I mean you do realize that at 1700 back spin your spin axis ("side spin") better be consistently low/good,,,,,,,,, otherwise that ball will die like a wounded duck and (usually) snap hook,,,,,,,,,,,,

I recall reading just today(?) about "chasing" a lower spin rate and what the "cost" is.

According to flightscope your spin reduction from 2500-1700 would result in approx 2.7 yards additional carry. Rollout  would increase about 12 yards on firm fairways.

Worth the loss of control on wayward shots ? Hmmmmmmm,,,,,,,

I would say the COR max situation is definitely true, for a very specific scientific approach to a repeatable testing pattern, as well as usage by Tour guys that are really really good. As far as increasing ball speed for me, take a look at the face of my driver and where I hit it. I've been as low as a +3, and I'm currently a 1.6, and my consistency and strike patterns definitely reflect that (all over the place). I don't know if it's a combination of spin, launch angle, etc. that also feeds into overall ball speed, but this guy has definitely not maxed out COR. Each manufacturer makes subtle changes from model to model and year to year. This one, for whatever reason seems to have made a positive impact to the manner in which I make contact.

Forgiveness wise, it's still like 430cc's or whatever, it's not THAT much different. 430cc's is still a large, forgiving head. My first "real" driver was a Titleist PT with a DGS300 steel shaft at 43.5", 430cc's vs 460cc's for me, honestly just isn't that different.

The big thing that impressed me beyond the low spin was how consistently straight I hit that TSi4. Back to back across maybe 35-40 balls going to my TSi3 and then TSi4 and back, just swapping the shaft, the apex, spin rate and offline variance was tremendously better with the TSi4, for me. Everyone else's mileage may vary, but that thing really seems to agree with me. From the limited interaction with it, I personally gained control vs. losing it, on top of the other benefits.

As Adam Scott found out, what works on the range hitting balls back to back does not necessarily mean the same results will be achieved on the course.  I suspect timing is much more important with this type of shaft and as a result consistency will suffer, hence the reason Scott has now resumed the use of the Ventus Red.

Lots of fun on the range though.

I agree, it's one thing to get in a rhythm hitting driver in succession on the range but out on the course it was probably difficult to time it up considering the rest of his bag have more "traditional" shafts.

Thats true, but it is beyond impressive what Matt was doing with that set up. Absolute bombs. Not that he doesn't bomb it anyway, but I thought that video was wild what he was getting out of it.

Picked up an 8* head with the tensei white 2.0 prototype tx (arrived last Saturday).  I have it set at c1 (1* down, 1* flat)

Mind you I just picked the clubs up again about 3 weeks ago after a 13 year hiatus, and I coming from a 907d2 7.5* w/ aldila vs 80x which I hit about 14* & 3100 rpm back in 2008.

I've got some rust on the swing that's inhibiting my speed a bit (and some old injuries from my days trying to be a fighter), but the spin reduction I'm seeing is absolutely insane.

My launch angle is still a tad bit higher than I'd like (my high 'down the line' follow through is to blame), but the ball hasn't stalled on me yet.

First round in 13 years was last Saturday - got in 9 holes at Forest Creek in the Austin TX area.  Shot an even 36 w/ 3 birdies and a triple.

The tsi4 was an absolute cannon though.  Maybe it's my reference point is a 907d2, but this thing seemed ridiculously forgiving to me.  Toe side mishits were still carrying ~300, and each shot I got seemed to just be a tiny draw.

Love it so far, and great to get the spark back after losing it for so many years.

Agree!

I’ve played 2 rounds and hit about 200 range balls with a 10*, -4g weight, and tensei white 75gs stiff.

Have a slight -AOA and this combo is a rocket launcher for me too.

I know people are saying it’s not as forgiving as other options, but it’s still plenty forgiving over the persimmons I started playing this game with decades ago.

Still waiting to get hands on one. I've loved TSi3 that i have as demo in my bag, but i want to try TSi4 before i order either one of those. Sucks, that we're such small market that everything comes late here. Not to mention when i finally order one, its gonna take forever to arrive. (thanks covid)

Did a fitting a month ago with TSi3 to dial in shaft, weight, and hosel settings. Then went back and tested both the 3 and 4 with same setup in a second session. The feel and numbers were pretty much same for me. Best shots were with the 4, but better averages with the 3. I probably should have gotten the 3 purely on performance but I’m a sucker for compact look.

So I guess if you found the 3 soft the 4 might feel that way for you too.

TSi4 is much firmer than the TSi3. Sound is a little higher pitched as well on the 4.

Played yesterday with a PGA tour pro on the comeback from a back injury. He is a Titleist staffer and had two drivers he was testing. They were both the TSI4 heads at 9 with the smoke green (PVD) finish at 6.5. One was his normal length at 44.50" and the other was at 45.5". He was hitting super high knuckle bombs with them both. He was blocking the 45.5" driver and said " he needs to give it a second up top" due to the length. That driver is FADE BAIS fir sure, but so good looking. He thought it was more forgiving than previous model by a mile...
