Project X 5.0

Recommended Posts

Anybody with driver SS <100mph have experience with the Project X 5.0 iron shafts? I grew up playing lacrosse and hockey so I prefer a stout shaft. Currently gaming KBS Tour Stiff as it was stock but they feel a bit too heavy and I just don't like the feel of the KBS Tour R.

I have been fitted with irons in Project X 5.5 (not the LZ model).  Love them.  Previous used different shafts that were stiff and regular.  My driver swing is between 95-98 range.  Would suggest getting fit vs taking others recommendations - every swing is unique.  Lots of good options out there, but hard to determine which works best for you until you get data/numbers.

5.0 is regular

5.5 is regular +

6.0 is stiff

etc

5.5 is 115 gram, as is the 5.0 I believe. 5.5 is a reg+, 5.0 a regular. I’ve played the 5.0 in a Cleveland HB Launcher set a bit, currently have the 5.5 in a W/S Launch pad set. The 5.5 is just a touch stouter but not by much.  Seems like I could feel the 5.0 load a tad better but not by much. Big jump though for me, in the 5.5 and 6.0, my son plays the 6.0s.  I’m in the 100 mph driver category as well, per a Bridgestone ball fitting. Love the Px, my favorite.

They can call 5.5 "R+" and 6.0 "S" all they want. The chart illustrates that the truth is that 5.5 is pretty stiff and 6.0 is approaching X territory. If you are just looking to drop 5 grams of weight and get a different feel go to a 5.5 and the stiffness should match your KBS S.

If you want some softer as well go for the 5.0 and it will still play stiffer than the KBS R.

I haven't played PX in a while but did play 5.5 at a few different points when my Driver swing speed was both just over and just under 100 MPH.

I think I've hit a 5.0 once or twice when swinger slightly slower (Somewhere in the 90-98 Driver range) since then and it definitely felt noticeably softer but not too soft.
