First Tee Box - new ball or used ball?

If I was able to warm up before the round then usually new. If not, then used. 

 

Also depends on the course. My hometown course has water on the first hole that's perfect driving distance for me to make a splash in. So when I'm playing there I tend to tee up a used ball on that hole. On a different course I play at often the first fairway is wide enough to land a 747 on with room to spare so I use a new ball there.

Only have three balls in my gamer pocket of my bag. Only pull a new sleeve out once I'm down to one ball in that pocket. Last ball gets played until its lost or a provisional comes into play.On a good stretch of golf, I might play the same ball a few rounds.

This is me. When the outdoor season starts I put 3 new in the gamer pocket and have 1 sleeve in the main pocket (I carry and so have a small bag). Try to keep 6 balls in the bag at all times but play 3 at a time for as long as possible and then open the new sleeve when I’m down to 1 in the gamer pocket. But I increase the number to 9 for the first month after the courses open after winter. My course has super long thick rough between adjacent fairways which just eats balls. If you don’t see your ball land - forget it.

One advantage of not hitting it very far is you don't lose many balls either.  Tee up the one you didn't lose last time 🙂

I usually try to find the one I used on the 18th of the previous round, hoping it will remember my swing more than I do. Lol

I go with a decent pre-played.

the first six holes at our course can be heartbreakers.

any left miss on the par fours are unrecoverable OB.

one par three is over a decent sized pond and another over a creek with high brush behind if you go long.

by the time we get to the par 5 seventh you know who needs a beer.
