Graphite shaft for TM p790 3i

Any thoughts or recommendations on a graphite shaft for my TaylorMade p790 3 iron? Currently I have the KBS Tour C-Taper X-Stiff (130 g) in my 3-P iron set. I have a p790 UDI 2i with the HZRDUS Smoke X-Stiff 100 (106.5g) shaft which I really like and hit well. Would that same HZRDUS shaft work well with the regular 3i p790? Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice here!

Yes it would work just as well in the 3 iron

 

I've also hit a Ventus Black 10X in driving iron and it's the best driving iron shaft I've found

 

Previously, the best one I'd hit was Tensei Pro White 100HY

 

The only thing I'd consider is that your 2-iron is probably primarily a tee box club, so you aren't really concerned about angle of descent. With your 3-iron, if it's use is approaches into par 5's, long par 3's, etc. - you may want a shaft that launches and spins higher than HZRDUS smoke does.

about to launch this same project.  Heads p790 3i and Tour preferred udi 2 iron.  shafts tensei white 90tx and steelfiber i110.  Best combo stays.

@Bomber_11 One other question - what would you recommend for something that launches and spins higher in a graphite x-stiff?

Funny you should mention. I just dropped my years usage of a 3-hybrid and added a 3i to my set of p790 irons.  When I originally had it shafted the same as my other irons (KBS), it really wasn't getting the height I desired...I wanted it to be comparable height of my 3-hybrid, so my club builder suggested the Steelfiber (I believe the i95?) graphite shaft and it's killer!!

 

Awesome high ballflight and it fits right in with my yardage increment from my 4i. I like those shafts so much, if they weren't so expensive, I'd consider putting them in my entire iron set! ($$)...I'll leave for now, but I do love it in my 3i, replacing my 3-hybrid...

Tensei Pro Blue 90TX

Graphite Design AD DI 95X

 

Both great options with different feels/kick points than each other. AD DI has a very distinctive “active” tip section; whereas Pro Blue will have a very linear load and feel smooth throughout the whole length with minimal “kick points” in it.
