Adam Scott...autoflex

Recommended Posts

Not sure if you already covered it in this thread, but he has changed his old trusty Rombax in 4-wood to a Tour AD DI with the new graphics. Anyone know if it’s 7 or 8 TX?

Edit: To correct myself it looks like the club I thought about was not his 16.5* but another added fw, probably 5 or 7-wood. It was the club he used as second shot in to hole 6. On hole 9 it seemed to be the 16.5 with Rombax as second shot.

What would you think the specs are? Length and tipped?

Can’t say for sure what he’s playing, but I bet it’s close to what they had me swinging. It was the X, which I think was 45.5” total length so tipped maybe an inch?  About 55 grams, so the swingweight was light, like D1-2

Really weird at first but I got the appeal after 5 minutes or so

Been awful off the tee today, might want to pause the informercial for now.

Been awful on a lot of his shots both yesterday and today, not just driver. Putter saved him yesterday which is rare for Scott.

Pulled multiple wedges / irons. But of course most are focusing on driver only!!

Still has the Rombax in the 3/4 wood.  He's put a 7 wood in with that DI, think it's the 7X.

It actually does, should have put sarcasm tags on the last post. Big fan.  Put it this way-

If there’s no pink paintfill option when I order a club I make it happen anyways:

Ok but that proves absolutely nothing. First, who is going to buy an 800 shaft just because of its color? Second who wants the 800 shaft but just cant get over the color..? I have no proof but common sense tells me its the latter.

A pink shaft isn't a problem for me, and it definitely either caught my eye or stuck in my brain because of the way it looks.  It's distinctive.  I wouldn't consider buying it if it hadn't given me good numbers, but I also might not even be aware of it if I didn't have that color scheme.

I think the color bothers far fewer people than you'd think.  I wouldn't buy it just because of the paint job, but nobody is saying that.

Adam Scott needs to throw that Autoflex shaft into the Pacific ocean. His driving was atrocious today.

Someone playing an autoflex is 3rd place and 2 shots behind. His performance with it i assure you has been on par or better than some people playing a “ventus” or whatever mainstream shaft.  He has better driving accuracy for the week than mcIlroy, finau and rahm. If anything it kind of debunks the whole shaft argument anyways. How much does it REALLY matter?

He had a two-way miss and hit one off the planet. That's pretty telling for someone who is normally a very good driver of the golf ball. It's obvious it's due to the shaft. If the Autoflex works well for you, that's great. But it really isn't working for Adam Scott. If he wants a shot at actually winning tomorrow, he better put something more reliable in the bag.

Yea cause no player with any other mainstream shaft ever hit one off the planet or had a two miss...come on...

The point is that's very uncharacteristic for Adam Scott. What's the new variable here? The Autoflex shaft. If he puts a tried and true shaft back in the bag and drives the ball as poorly as he did today, then okay, we can't blame the Autoflex. But a different shaft and his accuracy improves? Like I said earlier, throw it in the ocean. Distance isn't everything.

Did you guys see how many drives he pulled dead left?  I'm not convinced that the autoflex is as great as KHT touts it as.  Certainly not worth the 800+ price tag it commands.  He was driving it better 2 weeks ago in Honolulu with the Ventus Red.

Distance isnt everything, you need some level of control, but distance is pretty huge...theres no denying that. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here. I just see it as a domino effect from bryson. Alot of people are searching for a little extra anywhere they can get it.

Many people paid over $1000 for Matrix TPDHe shafts back in the day that are likely collecting dust.

Yep I had one in my R9 Super Tri back in the day.  Sold it 4 months after.  Paid almost 700 for it brand new.  Wasn't worth a lick.  I lost 15 to 20 yards off the tee and wasn't any more accurate.  Only shaft I have ever encountered that I couldn't turn the damn ball over.

I played the tphd and now the tphde and never find a shaft that could beat it (feel, accuracy and numbers). its all personal at this point. I'm not sell on the autoflex tech but if it work for some peoples why not.
