Strategic pictures in ads to hide issues

So I recently purchased a TSi2 driver that the seller stated was “used for one range session”. No info in the ad about any imperfections and the pictures all looked good from the angles taken. Fast forward to today and I just received the driver, opened up the box and found a massive skymark on the under toe side of the driver! Like almost missed completely, and it went through the clear coat and there are 2 tiny paint chips from it out on the toe!

For the first time in over 400 transactions on here I feel like I got screwed! Am I overreacting? I feel like a refund is in order? What say you?

Here is the original ad:

And here are the pics from just now:

if you are sure there is paint damage, then a refund is definitely in order. i understand your pain, but it seems it is a more recent trend.

Yes the 2 white spots in the pictures are where the paint is missing and the “smudge” is through the clear coat 😞

Yeah , I don't think that's what you signed up for when purchased a driver that was used at the range once. Refund is in order.

Did you confront the seller about the hidden issues and what did he say?

I sent him an honest PM addressing the issue and to see why he did not disclose this in the ad...no response yet

that’s ridiculous. frustrating that this is a more common occurrence now. well hopefully you didnt F&F payment or anything like that.

Nope I paid Goods and Services so I can file a claim if need be. I’m hoping he realizes he made a mistake and is willing to make it right without a claim. We will see...

Obvious he tried to hide it. I would file PP claim and be done with it.

Hello everyone. I did promptly respond tonight following his note and provided my full name and cell. Never noticed this, nor was I trying to deceive anyone. By the photo, it doesn’t even look like it was done by a golf ball. Sure as s*** isn’t a sky mark. Going to chat with him in the morning and discuss next steps.

Just want to add - I purchased the Ping SFT in this ad and the club arrived with no issues and I’m happy with the condition.  Given the seller response, I’d give this a bit of time and latitude to work out between the seller and OP before making any final conclusions.  Good luck, hope you guys come to a happy resolution

I do. Anyone who I’ve dealt with on this site should know that. Have purchased and sold a ton on here without any issue to date. Probably relevant to note that it cost $90 to ship to his location in California, and that he also got a great deal on the Tsi2 with a ventus blue velocore, but I digress.

Whoa , $90? How big was the box?

Yikes! I just ran an estimate for a 48x6x6 at a heavy 4lb driver box , from Southeast coast to the most northern tip of Cali and 2-3 day priority is around $25 and add $6-$7 for insurance if you insured it. Sounds like it must not have been a regular driver box. $90 is very steep to ship 1 golf club

Can't say I love this thread. Contact a seller, give them a chance to make things right before you start a thread about it and air the dirty laundry in public.

Then if they don't sort it out escalate.

Just my $.02

True , but shady dealings are shady dealings and bringing it to light isn’t a bad idea. Especially with the OP reaching out to the seller and getting no response. These threads generally spark the sellers interest to take action or give their side.
Seller stated it was shipped in a headcover , so with no damage to this monstrous box , it obviously had to be there.

Sure, but I get the impression (and I could be wrong) the the buyer did not give much time for the seller to respond. The OP says "Fast forward to today and I just received the driver" - so how long could have he given for the seller to respond - a few hours?

Maybe the seller is shady, maybe not, I just believe in giving people a chance to make things right before going public.

Actually what it cost to ship is not relevant.

I don't understand how people accept paying over $50 for shipping. I recently went to a post office with a medium sized box and they wanted to charge me $40. I walked right out, found a proper box, and ended up paying $13. Do these sellers think if they ship for a crazy amount of money the buyer will not want to ship back when they find the giant ball mark they conveniently left out? Do they forget that they are also responsible for return shipping in this scenario?

Anyone that "sells a ton" should know how to properly ship a driver to avoid a 90.00 charge.  You cannot use this as an excuse for sending the buyer a club with a large mark on it.  So your comment about the shipping charge being "relevant" really holds no merit.
