Thinking of putting Steelfiber 110 Cw's in my ping eye 2 BeCu's... Current shafts are stiff brunswick micro tapers... I'm usually a regular shaft based on swing speed... i believe the brunswick's are 115 grams in stiff so i think weight is close...

want to change shaft but not sure if should go ZZ-65's or go graphite as shoulder issues have limited playing...

I say go for it. Make sure to balance them to your swing though. Don't just glue them in and expect everything to just work.

thx for input... i'll have to make sure of current swingweight i assume... The shafts in them aren't horrible and i hit the ball ok just pretty boardy and some solid pains after range sessions...

Well I wouldn't put ZZ-65's in if you don't like the feel of the Microtapers. The shafts are almost identical.

From my understanding, Eye2s are a pain to pull shafts. Curious to hear how it goes.

Plan on sending wedges to Ping for them to do...

Depending on price i may send the Iron set (4-9) for them to do as well in graphite. gonna call Ping today and see what the deal is.

This thread is a bit...weird.  But to the OP the only thing I would say is that anything I've ever used Aerotech/Steelfiber plays a little stiff to flex for me.  YMMV though and others may think differently.

If a boardy feel is what you are trying to avoid I'd skip the Steelfibers.  Recoil's have much smoother feel.

@Nessism looking at recoil's... the 110's only come in Stiff (F4) or stiff (F5)... i believe i could get regular (95)... coming from a 115 g shaft i feel 95 grams will be too much of a decrease in weight...

Do the recoil 110 really play stiff?

Soft stepping once would be using the 4 iron shaft for the 5 iron & so on...this would equal about a 1/3 softer shaft. Soft stepping the 3 iron shaft for the 5 iron would give you approximately a Regular + shaft...so just about in the middle of a R or S flex.

Gotcha.  The reg + seems more the way to go... would the soft stepped shaft be then butt trimmed to length?

I assume you’re looking at taper tip shafts so they are individually lengthier iron..so yes you would install the 3 iron shaft in the 5 iron then butt cut to your desired 5 iron length to achieve the R+ flex.

Will Ping even pull shafts from Eye2s'? Ive heard they will not.

I called last week to inquire when I started thinking of this potential debacle... I was told they would. Any shaft I want steel about $50, graphite about $70 a club... gonna call next week to officially set up the job and hopefully it will work out.

If you're normally a regular shaft person, I would NOT suggest i110cw Stiff, maybe Regular, but Steelfiber shafts are notorious for playing stiffer than flex.  Weight may be close but 110 butt sections is "STIFF" as well as the tip section.  I pull them to go to graphite with a stiff butt and tip section.

Thats the main issue. I looked at the aerotech site for 110cw specs and only saw stiff or xstiff.  No regular. 95’s are prob to much of a diff. From 115g shafts i have been using.
gonna continue to do some research.

with kids and work very little time to actually go and test shafts. Really relying on opinions and specs at this point.
work overnights and only shop by me (golf galaxy) opens at 10am. By that time im junk and no business being in the world nevermind swinging a club

Just so you know, Steelfiber does make an i110cw "Regular", only its bend profile is "mid" as opposed to mid-high "S" and "X".   Go to their Steelfiber iron shaft page, cursor down to i110 on right there's a PDF link to shaft specs.  Click it, takes a minute to open.

Remember, i95cw or any other club, you can have swing weight adjusted.  I went from 120, to 110, to 115 to current graphite at 92g-108g for stronger players.  They are made to work because they are swing weighted to D2.  For that reason, I don't notice the weight difference - yet I am benefiting from lighter weight shafts.
