I have the 17.  I cut the shaft down, turned it down to a 16, added a very heavy aftermarket weight and was hitting bombs.  It replaced my 3 wood.  But then the weight stem snapped off and is stuck inside the head.

I can't figure out how to get the broken weight out.

So, I bought a used Big Bertha to replace it and turns it's just as long for half the price.

So silly how easy the big bertha's are to hit. I'm not a long hitter. Got a brand new  4h Big Bertha (not the B21) expecting it to go 170ish total. First time pulling it out, hit off a fluffy lie and it hit the top of a tree at 180. I was like, wth. Have't repeated that off flat lies yet but man this thing is a rocket ship.

I play a 20* at 39.75", and it completely replaced my 5 wood spot, which exactly what I was looking for. Originally replaced the TPO with a AD DI 95X at N/-1, as I typically played the DI in my 5 wood to hit into greens, but was hitting absolute moon balls with a tendency to creep left. Switched into the Ventus Blue 10X at N/S, and its perfect. May never look for another club in that spot. 250 carry with mid launch and spin, out of a club roughly 2" shorter, absolute money.

I've been thinking about picking up a 20* and having it replace my Rogue 4H. It is primarily a tee club I hit for positional reasons anyway so the larger head might benefit me.

We're going on a Minimalist Adventure who knows were we'll end up:

I decided I also like the idea of carrying both a large head and small head hybrid ..

Thinking back to last season, I always use the 5h from bad lies in the rough anyways due to loft

The 4h will likely become a 21 or 22* go to club for me off the tee on very tight tee holes

yep great idea.

My 17* is for 4wood replacement. 230yards and I am happy.

I carry 3hybrid 19' and it covers 210yards it is smaller head.

Got a brand new 2 hybrid, 17 degree off CPO for a tad above $200 about a month ago. (Make sure to keep an eye out for coupons for CPO, this deal was 40 percent off) Two rounds later, very happy with the results. Was a replacement for a G410 SFT 3 wood that I played at 16/17 degrees with a 41.5 inch shaft.

I basically wanted a fairway wood replacement that I would have an easier time getting off the deck. It has delivered in all areas.

Great off the tee. And cash money off the deck. No more fairways for me. The guys a TGW said something that really resonated with me about fairway woods when they were discussing this hybrid. They talked about being too inside, shallow and "drop kicking" shots with fairway woods. Really seemed to be the case with me. No matter how much I practiced with the fairway wood, since I only carry one, I always had that one bad shot a round with it. Either a tee shot or second shot into a par 5 and there I was in double bogey land.

More background about me. I have steadily grown to love hybrids over the past year since I got the Ping G410s. For me the flat setting really cut down the hooks and the 3 and 4 hybrids really improved those slots in the bag. I am already playing the 410s at flat, one degree up so the 3 is 20 and the 4 is 23 degrees.

One other tip I have picked up from a lot of the guys on these boards was using heavier shafts in hybrids. Stock shafts at 70 grams really don't give the control you want out of a club like this, and I never saw increased distance with lighter shafts. I play the ping tour shaft in the 410s which is 85 grams.

All these factors made the super hybrid perfect for me. The stock shaft is 80 grams and I had no problem elevating the ball. This was my biggest concern with getting a 2 hybrid.

I will say that it spins much more like a fairway wood than a hybrid. That might be a product of my lower swing speed and the loft on my club, but the ball flight certainly isn't low. The ball does roll out 5 to 6 yards more than with my 410s, but in a way that is what I wanted.

Super controlled off the tee, really good off the deck and as everybody else mentions basically the same distance of an equivalent lofted fairway wood.

So now its driver, three hybrids and irons. I am super excited for the upcoming year.

Anyone who has used an after-market weight to add swingweight, what weight did you buy that fits a super hybrid?

I am a fan of the Tensei shafts.  The Orange is in my driver and love it.  I like it in the Super Hybrid, but might experiment with the Tensei Blue that plays a bit softer for me and elevates much easier of the fairway.  Also considering the Riptide 70 which is awesome in my Mavrik fairway. I think the Orange plays a tad stiffer than its flex.  I have a 100MPH SS with my driver and the 5.5 in the Orange is perfect for me.  I would usually go to a 6.0 in the Blue.

Found this thread because just yesterday I hit the Super Hybrid for the 2nd time (1st was "meh" about 3 months ago).

But 5.5 ? 6.0 ? For Tensei ? I though only Project X/Hzrdus used those designations.

Anywho, yesterday I hit the SH in both 17 and 20 and hit it extremely well. I'm smitten. Not so much with distance as I find it no longer than my current Ping G400 3 hybrid but very forgiving, straight and very consistent.

That said I wasn't getting what I would consider quite enough height with my puny (95 Driver) swing speed.

Too low and relying on roll and down here in SoFla is not a great recipe for success. So I was thinking of the Tensei Blue, a bit higher launching shaft,,,,,,,,,, which brought me to this post.

Also in the Orange, I hit both stiff and regular and found little to no difference. This seems to be in line with my SS and overall thoughts on shafts, of weight being more important than flex, provided you're only about 1 flex from where you "should" be.

Despite my SS I play stiff in all of my clubs. DGS300s in my irons. I find the weight "costs" me about 2-3 yards in the irons over lightweight shafts but the dispersion and consistency is more than worth it.

Anyway, unfortunately(?) the stock shaft on the SH is the Orange.

If you decide to go with the Tensei Blue please post your results. 👍

TIA

17' tuned down to 16' is awesome for me off the tee and 2nd shot on par5. goes 20 yards longer than my 3hybrid.

Well I had my first awful CPO experience

Like a bad fairy tale

1.  Club was not LIKE NEW

2.  Club head was 1/5th full of soapy water .. no seal on back weight like the Apex hybrids it seems .. brutal

3.  Had a jumbo grip on it (not disclosed)

4.  Go to my fitter to re-grip and guess what .. it has an extension it to make it +1” .. the straw that broke the Canadian camels back

C/S at CPO was surprisingly useless.   Offered me $15 to replace the grip.   PATHETIC for a solid repeat customer.  Got a b/S speech about not being able to tell if it is a factory extension or not etc etc

Too bad, I loved the feel of the club .. like the OG Rapture stuff.  And my last iron set purchase experience from CPO for new CF16’s was amazing

sucks as Callaway C/S is amazing and they just nailed my specs on my new iron set

It happened to my Apex 19 the same round.  I "discovered" it on the Super around the turn and immediately checked the Apex.  Yup, same thing.  I did replace the Apex since I was able to find one in really good shape for $100 on the Bay.

They were the 18 gram weights from Billy Bob's.  I probably should've made a thread warning everyone here.

Dang weights cost me over $700 in damages and replacements.

This post alone has saved me. I've been planning to order one of the Billy Bob's weights specifically for the Super

I'm sorry this happened and thank you for the warning!

So is everyone saying it is mostly worth it to dump your 3w for this? Liking the idea of a shorter shaft to keep control better.

I don’t carry a wood, but I do carry a TEE CBX 119 hybrid at 16* with a 1/2 over shaft at 41 1/2”

What is the difference between the Super Hybrid and taking any hybrid head you like and just throwing the shaft of your choice over length in it?

Seems like if you love the “insert your favorite hybrid” and add length to the shaft, you’d have a G410/Pxg/CLK/TS3/Apex/EXS......etc... super hybrid ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ive only hit the 20* version and wasn’t overly impressed, but thought it was decent. I like the Apex line better.

That sucks. Can't you exchange it for another like new? They should cover shipping both ways as this is their error.

been using mine for about a month...it's a hammer.  debating about trying the recoil shaft from my BB19 3H in it...all in all, it's about 20yds longer than my BB19 but i could see why other folks have said it wasn't worth upgrading over a BB19 3H.

I bought the 20* off of CPO.  My was freaking brand new.  Stickers all over it, couldn't see a mark on the face.  I would have argued it wasn't even used.  I have the Orange X flex.

Number 17 on my home course is a sharp dogleg left that can be much easier if you can draw it and fly a tree at about 160 yards out.  The tree is massive and you have to hit it 110 ft. plus in the air.  Not easy but doable for a handful of guys at our club.  It is tricky because if you try to hit driver and don't turn it hard and get it up, you can fly it through everything and into a lake on the other side of the hole.

I literally bought the Super Hybrid just for that hole.  I love the thing.  I cranked it up to 22 and can fly it over the tree and turn it over easy.  It is my favorite hybrid I have ever hit and it isn't even close.  I am thinking about getting a 17* now.

I use it on other holes now because it is a fairway finder at about 235.
