Have I been sleeping on the i210?

I had the identical shafts in g400s and hit them a club and a half longer. I know some of the lofts are different but not that drastic. I had visions of blending the g400 long irons with the i210 im playing to a 7hc so i may not be striking them well enough but didn’t think it would be such a gap.

I went from power spec'd G400 to standard i210 and it was a club and a half for me, too.

If I blended, I'd have to play two of the same iron # at the crossover point.

To me, the shorter distances with the i210 was a feature, not a bug. I wanted consistent numbers versus big numbers.

I’m really curious to see the next version of the i210.  If ping can figure out forging with this type of iron, they might have a unicorn.

Would be interesting to see just how much of a spin, launch and decent difference they were.

The difference grows as you move through the bag, at least it did for me.

G400 vs i210

UW 120 vs 116

W 133 vs 128

9 149 vs 142

etc

It really is just the difference between loft and more spin. My G400 9i would fly 148-149 and usually end up about a yard forward of the pitch mark. My i210 9i would fly about 142-143 and rip back to 140. I play the AWT 2.0 stiff in both and wonder if I should've tried something in the i210 with less spin. That said, the G400/G410/G425 just work for me. A little less spin is better, a little more forgiveness is better, IMO they're a little straighter and higher... all things I'm good with. But I absolutely think the i210 are some of the best irons from the past 3 years. For some it's "style over substance". For Ping its "performance over style". i210 = elite performance for good/great players.

Agree with this 100%. i210s are not as long but they go Exactly to the yardage I want.  I currently blended my set in the longer irons and I have two 7 irons in my bag.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you blend them with? It's something I am considering as well

Not going to add much to what's already been covered.   I think it comes down to being honest with yourself.   If you're at all seduced by the increased distance of player distance irons, the i210s will probably have you looking elsewhere.

They're a bit boring in their consistency, both on full swings and chipping.   But there's a reason pros use them as opposed to their hotter faced competition.

After seeing more and more Pro‘s WITB pop up with i210 (and winning with them) I started reading more into the irons. There seems to be a ton of praise for them on here. I had the i200 for a brief time many years ago, but thought they felt a little firm and, for whatever reason, they were consistently shorter than other irons at the time.

I guess I hadn’t seriously considered the i210s because of that... up until now.

So talk to me, how are these irons holding up in 2021 against the competition out there now? What other irons are they similar to in size, shape, feel? I’m debating making the move back to irons with a larger profile and been eyeing the new Cobra MIM for example, but feel like I might be doing myself a disservice by not considering these i210 too...

What you need is a T100 set.  I know a guy who might swap a set for a p7tw set.   Lol.

but on topic. I do like most anything ping makes.

I tested with an i200 7 iron by replacing my G400 8 iron with it.  I liked joking with my buddies that I had a big 7 and a little 7...literally.

I hit the i200 so well, I got fit for the i210s and haven’t looked back.
