Forged club struggles

I’ve recently went from cavity back to forged irons and have struggled since. 
I was fitted and of course was hitting them really well at the fitting.

I’m sure there is a learning curve but I’m shanking, skulling, pulling etc. everything I haven’t done since starting this game.

has anyone else experienced this. Really thinking about going back to the cavity back.

It maybe due to a different club parameter, as opposed to the club head itself.  A thing to keep in mind is Hogan preferred flat lie angles.  He did this flat angle to keep his hands lower through impact.  Using regular clubs, which are more upright than Hogan's clubs, makes it very difficult to achieve a Hogan type swing.

I had a similar experience with clubs having more offset.  Drove me nuts.  I had to find a swing that worked, and what I found was a slow-motion pitch.  I built that little swing up to a full, fast swing and practice it every day dozens of times.  I *think* I had gotten into the habit of (a) swinging too hard and (b) exaggerating my OTT.  The key to my new swing is to start the weight shift just before I reach the top of my (new shorter) backswing and turning my lower body before the upper.  At least that's what it feels like 😀

So are mine !  I have checked high dollar clubs whose loft and lies were absolutely not remotely close to their specs . !  If players only knew they wouldn’t buy ! 99 % of irons bought off the shelf are 2 degrees upright which is a crutch for the slicer. I bought my own loft and lie machine to make sure my specs. are correct. 
    I would suggest golfers should pay more attention on the SHAFT than the clubface . It is much more important!

 

exactly, even if you have clubheads that were 6 degrees too upright for your swing, as long as the shaft is good, you're golden.

Forged irons speak to head material, only.  It has nothing to do with shots.  I have been playing forged irons for years.  Your choice of words suggests your ball is all over the place.  IMO that has more do with your swing mechanics and resulting ball striking.

+1. Its not even really about head material, its about how the steel is shaped into a clubhead. Definitely swing not consistent enough.
