How could anyone be a fan of Patrick Reed?

It would disqualify her as a credible witness to 1st say “ I didn’t see it bounce “ and then later to have changed  that story to whatever it is/was.   It absolutely would create reasonable  doubt in a jury’s mind about her witnessing skills and therefore give Patrick a perfectly reasonable reason for making his decision.  So yes. I think it has 2 legs not one. 
 

 

yoire acting as if he has a credible witness with an iron clad story and then went against her story.  It’s actually the opposite.  He has a seemingly unaware but assuming witness , he goes with her info and makes possibly a bad call. But the only call that you can make with the info at hand.

I'm really not sure what that means... Reed asked a question of the volunteer and received an answer from the volunteer. This isn't a court case or interrogation.. This is on a golf course, while playing a professional round of golf.

Reed is clearly a cheater as we have witnessed on TV and many of his teammates and playing partners have said so. I have not heard anything about JT, Jordan or Morikawa or most other players.

Reed then lied and told his partners it didn’t bounce. 

 

Everything else, embedded, old ball mark, etc etc.. doesn’t matter to me, it goes on all the time. Mcilroy did the same.. but he didn’t lie about what a bystander told him.

 

I have heard that argument plenty of times. However, her statement completely implies that she saw the ball land and did not see it bounce. The rules officials thoroughly looked at the entire situation in full several times and ruled that Reed executed everything under the rules of golf. If the rules officials thought that Reed twisted what she said or lied about it, they would have issued him a penalty or DQ him. Really nothing to discuss to say that he cheated in that situation.

what the witness said was correct, no contradiction at all. I didnt see it bounce because I didnt see it. Linguistically, gramatically, legally correct.

 

When Reed told his partners she said it didnt bounce, that was a whopper.

no when he actually picked up the ball he palmed it, embedded would have need to use his fingers to release it.

yes they are different statements but the first one doesnt contradict the second one, it just has an added explanation.

 

'it didnt bounce' isnt adding an explanation or expanding on the marshals statement of 'i didnt see it bounce', its changing what she said completely.

I truly think you’re being purposely obtuse.  or either you’re way too cautious in your interpretation of the rules of this game.  
 

put yourself in this position.  Minus any Patrick Reed bias.  
 

You walk up to your ball.  It is deep in the rough.  From the top it appears to be plugged. You ask the only person nearby who happens to be a volunteer . “ ma’am.  Did you see my ball land or bounce “?   She replies “ nope. I didn’t see it bounce “.    What do you do then ?  You pick it up to identify it and check to see if it’s plugged.  Both are perfectly legal per the rules of golf.

Oh I know.    I just genuinely don’t get the argument.  To me saying “ she said it didn’t bounce “ and “ she said she didn’t see it bounce “ elicits the exact same response or actions.   Those are same statements to me , unless you’re going to make a different action for one vs the other.   If you make a different action for one then you’re being too cautious.  He doesn’t have the luxury of instant replay.  And he had an official bless the decision.  🤷🏼‍♀️

I am going to preface this with the fact that I am not a fan of Patrick Reed - I am sat in the office with a signed Ryder Cup flag on the wall - the only US player that I didn’t have sign it was Patrick Reed 😂 That may make me biased.

 

That said, I can see the specific incident from both sides. I can see why he was cleared to go ahead and proceed the way that he did by the official but I do have an issue with how Reed went about things prior to the involvement of the official. If there is a side to fall down on, it is the overly cautious side and Reed did not do that which given past indiscretions leaves me with questions marks this time around. Is that fair? Possibly not but that’s my 0.02.

It is fair. I personally wouldn’t have touched the ball until the official arrived. But. Not because I would have worried about being labeled a cheat.  I do not care about that.  Only self righteous folks worry about labeling others.  But because I wouldn’t have wanted to make a mistake and cause myself a penalty.

Yep. I get that.  Personally I think it’s genius.  Bowing to the think tank , will only lead to let down eventually. They’ll turn on you in a second.   Going ahead and throwing up the middle finger takes  that down .  Caring about Image is fake.  Meaning  Image is manufactured.  I prefer someone to just be themselves.  
 

that’s the lions share of why he’s hated.  From school to now.  His teammates then didn’t like him because he wasn’t their buddy.  But he dragged them to a National title.  So they hated him more.  The herd hates someone who won’t conform.
