I know there is a topic floating around but I can't seem to find it.

 

He put it to good use last week, anyone know the specs? Based on TV coverage it looked like a TSi2 21* with a ADDI 9x or 10x maybe?

It is a TSi2 21* with an AD DI 10TX

Vijay Singh used to carry a 9 wood.  Now 7 woods are finding their way into PGA bags.  I have to assume this will become more normal and WITB will have pics.  I couldn't find one either, but here is his WITB.

Thing is it’s impossible to get a 90 or 100 gram shaft directly through the fairway wood manufacturer.

Agreed... I searched a good while until I got lucky with the OG BB 93x on the cheap.

 

You can order the VENTUS Red 9x from Peoples....legend has it if you tip trim it 2" it is a copy paste of the old ROMBAX P95.

And isn’t a long iron more versatile than a 7W?

Not out of thick rough.  I'm sure he will rotate it in and out depending on course setup.

Seems like the 7w is here to stay. Has been in the bag since Houston last year, including the Masters. He dropped the 716 TMB 3-iron for it, then pulled out the 680 4-iron for a 716 TMB 4-iron. He hit one on the weekend with the 7 wood to about 5 feet, and it stopped on a dime. Didn't have that shot with the TMB 3-iron.

In theory...almost the same...the more you tip trim a shaft the more stable the head becomes. 2" and you have a heavy shaft that launches high(ish) spins low(er) and a very stable head at impact...in regard to the VENTUS Red 9x.

I did as well, and I’m happy I gave it a try. That’s been one of the harder spots in my bag to fill and had been a revolving door. I haven’t really found a hybrid I can rely on, played a SIM UDI for a little while but that was pretty one dimensional, but the 7 wood gives me the versatility I’m looking for.

I swapped out the 3 wood for a 70 gram RDX black. the 9x ventus went into the 7 wood. Though I am thinking I may put a 60 gram in my driver and bump the 70x to the 3 wood.

I have a Black 6x on the way to test in the driver. Played the 7x last season, and was impressed with how stable it was. Hoping to get the same level of stability in the 6.

What length are you guy playing it at? I built up an older 915FD 18 at 41" but playing it at C4 (+.75 loft/.75 Flat) just to make sure it doesnt go too far. would rather play something with a more open club face if possible

 

Wish there was a Titleist tip that could do down 1.5*

I’m playing 41.5” at D3, set at C1 (-.75 loft/.75 flat). Mine has the 13g weight from Titleist, I believe it’s +4 grams from the standard weight.

Modern day 7 woods loft are OG 5 woods. Not surprised to see it in lots of players bag.

 

 On top of that modern day words are huge too. 7 woods are usually smaller which better players prefer.
