lol.  Yep.  Could be.  But isn’t that the least fair way to do it ?  And further rewarding the generation that let it get away from them in the first place ?

Right. But if it doesn’t hurt all speed players  Distances  it’s an uneven change.

Perhaps you can explain what you mean and how it would be different than today?

If you change the ball so that say for example above 110 mph loses 4-5 % distance but under say 105mph loses nothing compared to today.  That’s an unfair change.  
 

 

Edit - move the percentage to 1 and I feel the same. If you’re going to roll it back , everyone should lose.

I don't think it's an unfair way of doing it.  A new ball (that I'd invent if possible) would have a characteristic where you'd reach the point of diminishing return with regard to swing speed and distance. If plotted on a graph with swing speed on the X axis and distance on the Y axis, the curve would become asymptotic as swing speed increased.  

 

Are we supposed to wait until guys can routinely drive Par 4's? Golf isn't supposed to be a long drive, chip and putt contest.  Regardless of who caused the problem one thing we know for sure, it wasn't the golf course owners/members.  So should golf courses have to continue to absorb the ever increasing costs of lengthening and maintaining long courses just to host an event once in a while?  That doesn't seem good for golf to me, nor does messing with today's equipment that allows people to play the game longer in life, but that's just my opinion.

We agree on the rollback.  We just don’t agree on how. 
 

 

You can’t take and penalize longer hitters more.  Tech has already done that.   Just look at what tiger says about it.  
 

it’s commonly thought that longer hitters gain more than  slower guys. But that’s really not true. Most long guys don’t swing all out. To control spin.  But most shorter guys are coming out of their shoes because they don’t create excess spin.    Years ago short guys couldn’t get enough launch to maximize carry for their speed.  Now. Everyone does this if they have a decent swing.  And it’s the modern driver and ball that allows it.  
 

I actually want to see that advantage erased.  Make it side spin so that trying to hit up on driver produces wild misses.  The long guy then sees his true full advantage again.
