I purchased the new PLD without handling one and honestly I haven’t rolled it at all yet.  But my SC Phantom 5.5 is about to be up for sale on the BST.  SC seems to make it selling $400 putters, as well as Bettinardi, Evnroll, etc.  I would think a for retail PLD line would be a very doable if not very profitable venture for Ping. People are tossing out $500 for drivers at an alarming rate and a putter is used more often than any driver.  Also the R&D on a putter can’t be what the R&D on a driver is. I own 1 Driver and multiple putters.  Show us some love Ping and give us a couple retail PLD offerings.

Ping’s retail putters have mostly looked like junk to me for quite a few years.

Most of the PLD putters I see look so straight forward and nice. Why the retail lines don’t look like this feels like a miss. The wide body Anser and Anser 2 are awesome looking.

Its the same for all the putter manufactures.  All the Tour putters look awesome, raw carbon, wide body, simple and sleek yet their OTR gear is grabage. Just junk and most times completely different, not necessary and certainly not helpful crap.

This is why small boutiques like Mannkrafted, Byron and others will stick around. Which I am fine with. OEM’s dumb - small putter shops +1

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

Rather than expecting lets all try and appreciate instead.
Treat people the way you want to be treated

For $1250 USD, you can get you're own PLD custom putter made at PING HQ. I was talking to one of the master fitters and you can get a fitting with them over Zoom or at PING HQ . Then they can build you a custom putter to pretty much whatever spec you want.

This is a steal of a deal when you compared it to the $3K price of a basic Circle T putter that isn't even custom made for you.

$1250 for a Ping putter is not a steal 😂

It's a custom built one off putter that you, a PING master fitter and a design engineer create from a single billet. A true tour experience. You get to select head shapes, hosel styles, offets, materials, head Weight, small design detail, different types of face milling, inserts...the list goes on.

What would you suggest they ask for such a service?

Can I get a line on the top line of an anser rather than the cavity? If so I’m there.

Like a sight line? Yes, you can literally customize them how you want. It's the same process they go through with their tour players.

Great thank you for posting this. I have an old magnesium bronze anser that was naked and they put a site line on top line for me.  I love it but it’s super light. I’m calling them tomorrow!

A specialist line of putters for the pros and different (inferior) line for the rest of us mortals.

It's surprising to see Ping leading the way on bifurcation. 🤭

That was always a hallmark of Ping, at least with the first two generations.

No longer, it would seem, and that's a shame.
