That’s what I was hoping you’d say haha. Most people say “oh that’s way too thick of a sole!” But don’t really test it, aren’t accustomed to moving the ball, etc. Definitely wasn’t insinuating anything, but was curious to see what you would say exactly coming from 01’s. And seeing you played 01’s, I had a feeling you’d respond the right way!

also, I’m an Oban fanboy, so don’t crush my gentle heart 😂

devotion in my driver and 3 wood, ct-100’s in my irons and ct-115’s in my wedges. My dispersion has never been better, it’s crazy, they work well for me!

So I think ima stick woth the c05 over the c01 from 9-5.  Past 2 rounds have found they are soooo forgiving.  My sole fears have been alleviated.  They feel completely different on turf then the mats.  Only downside has been learn new distances.  I am almost a full club longer then what I perceived are my yardages.  Going to have to bend then all 1* weak.  I think I have found my irons for the near future.

I payed 463.33 per C003 iron with Oban CT 115 shafts. I have a set on BST for $412.50 per iron if interested.

I remember all those occasions, over the last 11 years, being ridiculed for a $300 price per iron on my Miura gear.

Kinda feel vindicated!

Why do you say sounds like Joe? Thx

Joe charges 100% retail on everything, no discounts. Then he mentioned Oban shafts which Joe loves and a lot of people get fit into that are fit by him. I'm not saying they aren't a great fit just that he loves the 115's and fits them a lot (based on personal experience and his instagram). Joe is a fantastic fitter and I very much like him, but his fitting matrix used to be larger - at least for irons it's pretty limited. Drivers he pretty much exclusively fits with Callaway.

These are just open design concepts. I’ll pass. People have become such consumers these days they will buy everything

Sorry, but these are not open designs.  If you look carefully, these are a new forging process that Endo used in partnership to develop these.  I seriously doubt the other forging houses can manufacture.

For those that are interested… TXG just dropped a great review on the 03, 05 and 07 heads!

Has the price point changed? TXG quoting some prices that seem far lower than ‘21 prices.

I was very confused by that as their prices haven’t changed. Most manufacturers have increased prices but I’m still not sure I would call them “middle of the road” like they were trying to describe.

these are excellent clubs but there’s a specific audience for them and that’s true with most JDM clubs.

Their website lists dealers in Europe. Jean Michel Queva - Queva Clubfitting - in France built mine. Great builder and I’d highly recommend him

Trying to bump this thread. I have been playing the C05s for a few weeks now and loved the feel and accuracy of these irons. Visually, they are one of the best looking irons I have ever seen with no short of class and simplicity. It is much softer than my MP20MMCs, granted I am a newbie to JDM and soft Japanese forgings but with this set as a breakthrough piece, I can say I am hooked.

For those of you that have tried these irons, please recommend me some other brands or forgings that is similar in feel to the Proto Concepts.

Glad you like them! I play the C05's as well and they are some of the straightest irons out there. Mizuno's quality has dropped over the years, so these should feel worlds better.

As for different companies, there are too many to state. What I'd recommend looking for are the material being used and their forging/ finishing process. The C05's aren't a 1 piece forging, so you'll see increased feel in something that's a full one piece (debatable, but that's the idea). But I'd put them against any one piece out there and challenge someone to tell me it doesn't feel like a true 1 piece forging.

The most notable brands you'll see on this forum will be Miura, Kyoei and maybe Fourteen. Those names just pop up the most in my opinion. Doesn't mean they are the best, just what vast majority gravitate towards. Excellent brands though and you can't go wrong with clubs from any of them.

For those playing these what do you have in the 3 an 4 iron slots? Since the co3 dont have anything below the 5 iron trying to find something to fill the spot that will blend in. Thanks.

C07 has a 4 iron and it’s pretty solid but on the thicker side. I tinkered with the C01.5 and it was nice but I don’t swing fast enough for it lol

i play hybrids now, just easier to hit.

from what I understand, when the new C03 head releases it will have a 4 iron option

I have the C07 4 iron and it gaps perfectly to my 5 iron C05. Have it with Obans as well.

I play a set of C05s (thanks @NerdyGolfer) and am on mainly firm courses. I have strengthened the entire set one degree (putting the 5 at 24 degrees) to cut down on bounce and actually have found that I don’t need a 4 as the 5 now gaps right into a ping crossover 3 (20 or 21 degrees depending on course/conditions)

now I’m thinking I’ll need the new C03s though 🙂

Middle of May is what I’ve heard on the new C03 heads. They look super slick! Who knows, maybe sooner than that 😉

Anyone have thoughts or have hit the new c03tc?  From what I hear it's size sits between the c01 and older c03 woth c03 forgoviness.  Also slightly more spin, height,  and softness.

Where did you hear that? (Size) they lowered the CG on the new head, so naturally you’ll see increased height and spin numbers, so that seems very accurate.

from what I understand is the size is roughly the same, just an improvement on exactly what you said based on user feedback.

I’ll be able to hit it in maybe a week or so

That would be a good combo set! Used to have the same setup in heads and it was so accurate (I play all C05’s now). The C05’s are some of the best performing irons I’ve ever played. Combo of super accuracy and amazing feel!
