Boulder Country Club

Does anyone have experience with Boulder Country Club? What are your thoughts on the experience there? I have a friend taking me as a guest and wanted to hear anyone thoughts. I searched and there is not much information out there on the club.

Sorry man, never even been close to Boulder Country Club - but I assume we are talking Boulder, CO? I grew up in Denver.

And as such, I can put the two things together in my mind - Boulder + Country Club - and come up with an image. 😁

Having said that, I have played Red Rocks Country Club and can tell you for a fact that I think that place sucks.

Just trying to joke around dude, sorry you haven't received any responses yet. Hope you get some info soon. 🍻

Haven't heard much about Boulder CC, but willing to check it out! @jholz I live near Red Rocks CC and always thought it looked like an interesting course! What did you like/not like about it??

This is totally my opinion mind you, and the last time I played that course was probably 20 years ago. Also, RRCC has been around for a long time and the people who live out there do seem to like it. So, YMMV.

Having said that, I really don't like the layout. Some very stupid holes and green complexes. When I have played there, the course was always in pretty terrible condition. If it wasn't a "country club" and didn't have a couple little flatiron nubs on the property, it would be a lower-tier muni in my opinion. It certainly isn't Arrowhead.

But, I have noticed that sometime since I've been there, they've tried to institute some xeriscaping with prairie grasses and such off the fairways and tee boxes. I'm sure doing that has allowed them to focus more irrigation on the playing surfaces, which should hopefully help the overall course condition.

So, I'd say give it a try. I'd love to see if your experience is similar to mine.

I lived in Longmont for 18 years and never had a chance to play BCC or met anyone who played there. Boulder is an interesting city. There is a hippie/nature/college vibe there as well as a pretentious vibe. I suppose it depends on what personality you run into. Regardless, unless you're planning on joining BCC just enjoy the round. Weather for the next week is going to be stellar!!!

Much thanks for the insight @jholz! I wouldn't mind getting out there sometime this season and trying it out so we can compare notes. Will definitely report back if/when I get out there.

I'd agree that the flatirons can paper over otherwise obvious blemishes at some courses, but I imagine some players go out there for the scenery (Arrowhead/Fossil trace) despite that. After being in FL for so long, the elevation and texture of the courses in CO has been a welcome change.

Yeah man, Denver and the vicinity is a great golf area. So much variety in terms of terrain and, as a result, course design. I grew up on the east side of town playing the Denver/Aurora munis - Wilshire, Willis Case, Park Hill (RIP). I also loved playing some of the nicer county courses like Saddlerock, Riverdale Dunes, and the like. So many fun courses.

Having grown up there and not knowing any different, I never realized that Denver is pretty exceptional in terms of accessible and affordable public golf. Now that I live in "East Coast Country Club Land," I do certainly miss it.
