Is Ping G425 Max driver more forgiving than G410 Plus?

Yes.

As a long time user of the 410+, though distance can be similar, the 425 Max is better in almost every way.

I switched as fast as I could.

Only on GolfWRX can someone using a club that first released two years ago consider themselves a "long time user.";)

A year or two with a piece of equipment can seem like a lifetime, if this sub-forum is any indicator. 😆

Recently went from 410lst to 425max. In my one round with the 425, I can report that I found it more forgiving.

It’s a small sample size, but I found the distance dispersion to be better. I’m sure I didn’t hit the middle in every shot but didn’t feel as punished. Distance off the tee seemed pretty consistent through the round.

hope this helps

I play G410 and I might switch to G425 because I'm a Wrx-er and I like having the latest and greatest. But the differences in these clubs in terms of their MOI scores are so small -- even when measured with thousands of hits using robotic testing -- that it is highly unlikely any of us could immediately determine (certainly not after 1 round of golf 😄) that the 425 is noticeably more forgiving.

The performance differences are likely to be fractional. But I still might switch because I like the aesthetics of the 425 and I think the weight track system is improved. The only thing holding me back is the sound. G410 Plus was loud and the 425 Max sounds borderline obnoxious.

I'm still nervous about the sound from the G425 range, it was noticeable watching the action from Phoenix

I know this is personal preference but I had a Taylormade SIM and hated how muted it was, even when I hit it long (for me). All my buddies love the muted sound. I guess if I find the Ping G425 Max as forgiving as everyone is saying and a “fairway finder” I don’t care. Nothing can ever sound as bad as the Nike SQ lol 😂

+1...sound and feel were both muted and weird to me on the TM Sim Max I had for a while last season.  Can't explain it but did not like the feel at all.  Went back to ping at the end of the season from g400max to g410 Max and liked it much better.

The G425 is more ear piercing than the G400 Max. If you want small differences in performance, you may or may not see them. I did not see consistent benefits with a 425 demo on a Trackman hitting from a garage bay to an outside range. But you may find it benefits you.

If true...reviewers should be doing more comparisons between 400max and 425max leaving out 410.  Would love to see that.

True, but  the think you need to keep in perspective is that all of these drivers are forgiving, compared to most brands Ping has a much higher MOI by design.  Most companies go for ball speed, so they look longer on a LM.  I still play the G400, not max, and think it's one of the most forgiving drivers I have ever hit, I preferred it to the Max for whatever reason.

@dlygrisse

I’ve heard the g400 =much nicer sound (at 445cc?), vs the Max

..can Google “g400” and “aMyGdala”(S) , if interested to read more! (It’ll Link you to a MGS review “🙅‍♂️not-allowed🚫-because-of-spam🗑” 😀)

Ok, probably a dumb question but, is it the 26gm weight in the back of the g425, that gives it this high of a MOI? So if you went with a less weight in the back would the MOI decrease? I ask as well because, I currently play a G410+, but also have a g400 max, and have hit the g425 3-4 times on the range outdoors. First, I didn't really notice any difference in forgiveness, nor distance(used same shaft in both). What I did notice was the g425 felt very heavy to me, and didn't like the sound at all. Final point, if I did get a G425(which I am not), I would want a lesser weight in back. So once again, would that then put the MOI more even with the g400 max or even the g410? Thanks

based on my understanding, the answers to all your hypothesis are yes. But I am surprised that you found that g425 feels heavier than other two. The swing weight in g425 should be the same as g410+ despite of a 26gram moveable weight; in that case they should feel the same weight. Do you access to a swing weight scale to find out?

The thing I really like about Ping drivers is that they fly straight.   I find them hard to curve much, and they don’t go dead left on occasion like a lot of other brands. Cough-cough Callaway.

No on the scale. My friend who manages the golf store I shop at, and let me take the g425 out to try, told me most people hitting the g425 for the first time, told him it felt heavy, and had a tendency to go right.

It does sound good.  The thing about the G400 series is getting the right spin numbers. I’m not a high spin player, but I found the 10.5 spun a lot till I went to the small-  which l like cause it opens the face a bit. The LST might be Pings best driver ever for a large group of population.

I see. My g425 will finally arrive tomorrow!! I will get it on sw scale and compare with my g410+ to find out for sure.

As of Feb 9th, what is the price diff btwn a new 400max vs. 425max?  I'm thinking it's $100 diff. I'm looking for a new driver and wondering if it is worth for the extra $100 to go with the 425?

Actually about $200 difference. You can easily find an excellent condition G400 max driver at <$300 price range now while you would have to full retail price for G425 Max.
