Golf trip for 8

Hi guys,

looking for recommendations for a golf trip in mid-october.  it'll be two foursomes.  will probably fly in thursday, get one round in, two rounds each for friday/saturday, one round sunday morning and fly out.  it'll be a very golf-centric trip so won't need amazing nightlife or restaurants, etc.  just want a quick trip from the airport and don't want to drive a ton to each golf course.

i've never been but after some initial research, i'm leaning toward legends at myrtle beach - really like the idea of staying on-premises and seems like a no-frills but great value if you're just going to play golf.  i'd say 3 out of the 8 are a little more cost-conscious as well which is why i like legends so nobody will have to break the bank.

1) has anyone stayed on premises at legends?  do they have any rooms that can sleep 8?  would like to keep the group together for fun (poker, etc.)

2) open to other suggestions as well, mid-october seems a little risky weather-wise in florida, arizona seems to be in full seeding season at that point, and pinehurst was overly expensive

thanks in advance for any advice/input!

The Legends package is very popular in MB.  I have not stayed at Legends, but
as far as I know, they have standard condos, so you probably need/want 2 condos.
You can always hang out in one, but sleep better in two.

Legends has 3 courses on site, Oyster Bay about 45 minutes north and Heritage
about 40 minutes South.   I think they have book 3 get 1 round free, plus it

includes food.

If you don't want those 2 drives, but don't want to repeat the 3 resort courses,
nearby recommended courses are; MBN Kings North, Replica World Tour,
Arrowhead, Wing Wing.

What are you looking to spend?  What's the age/handicap range of golfers?  Where are you flying in from?

Oct is the best golf weather month in North/South Carolina which it sounds like you're considering.  Courses are still green, temps typically in 70s for highs , and daylight until 6:30-7pm allowing for the 36 holes you're looking for.

Pinehurst area you can get houses and play courses other than at the resort that are more reasonably priced.  Lots of other chains on those here.

Myrtle beach there are infinite options.

There are plenty of good course close to Greensboro that you could get a house and play.  Most people probably don't think of these but it would be a very solid golf trip.  I'd guess a VRBO house would be significantly less than elsewhere.  These have two solid courses each - Grandover Resort(ACC Champ),  Tanglewood(74 PGA, recently renovated), Bryan Park(2010 US AM Pub Links)

Close to Raleigh lots of good 18 hole courses.   Outside of Carolinas Alabama and the RTJ trail would be good

One option if price is a challenge and you would like go still get on the better courses(Pinehurst, etc)  is to wait a few weeks into Nov.  Most courses/resorts in the Carolinas start discounting further then.  You just lose a little temp, have a small chance for frost delays, and daylight savings ends.  This would work well in the SC area as it's a little warmer.

thanks for the feedback guys.

handicaps vary widely, from a 9 to 20.  decided to go with myrtle beach.

i ended up booking a house on the legends site via VRBO and we decided to play the 3 courses on site (2 times each)

seemed to be the most cost effective / best value since not everyone coming is a hardcore golfer.  wanted to take a look at pinehurst 2, but as you can guess that bumps up the pricing significantly.

appreciate the help!
