Srixon Irons wait time.

I ordered MMT 105 on 1/9. I have been basically checking in every two weeks and every time they tell me the shafts are coming in 2-3 days and we will finish the set and send them out. Then every time, they ship one iron or nothing. I think so far they have shipped the 8 iron and the 5 and 6. I asked DD's to just hold them all until the whole set comes in. I emailed Srixon two weeks ago and they said they thought the 7 iron was being built that week, but I don't know if it was. I just emailed them to get a bi-weekly update. I will relay what they say. I would be curious to know if any other MMT 105s people have received any partial orders as well and if so, which ones and when. 

 

Mine are likely to go straight to the BST. 9 weeks is like 2 years in WRX time and my mind is already moving on to MP22 or whatever Titleist/PING come out with later this year.

my heads are the zx5. so haven't received any club yet. just sent a follow up email today. no response back yet.

Well, they got back to me. They said the 7 and 9 iron have been shipped out, but they are waiting on the PW shaft. Lol, my guess is it will be another 2 weeks at least since they usually tell me when they are expecting the shaft shipments and this time they did not mention if/when they were expecting any deliveries. They did mention that they have allocated a head and grip to me for when the shaft comes in which does give me some hope of getting this set completed before May.

 

It's like waiting for a turn for the Covid vaccine. It seems like it could happen any day, but could actually take a few more months.

It might be the grips, wouldn’t hurt to call and ask. I had ordered a stock grip...Lamkin Crossline....and they were causing the delay. Told them to toss whatever in box and don’t install. Sped me up about 2-3 weeks.

Whoever you ordered from will have an order confirmation with the number. However, as I found out, if it is the grips and you want to change the order the shop will need to call in the change.

No they only had one set of zx7's and I want to say the shafts were different.

Just posted in the WRX club techs, but I'll say it again in this post.  I've had ZX5's ordered around 1/21/21 with the MMT 105 S.  Was told the shafts were suppose to be in on 3/5.  Just finished speaking to someone at Srixon who spoke to someone from the build team.  They cannot confirm the shafts are in, which basically means they are not in.  Whether it's true or not they basically told her that the irons most likely wouldn't be built with those shafts until the end of April.  Totally bummed, so I switched my order to different shafts.  I was assured they have the heads and grips.

We'll see.

MMT shafts are super backed up. From my chat with a rep when I received my partial order, so are some of the Aerotech shafts, which is what I ordered.

Sheeesh. I am literally just the PW away from getting my set finished with the 105s. In my earlier post, I was kind of joking about getting it before May, but now with your post I am not so sure that is going to happen. I honestly just want them now so that I can sell them and move on. I ordered ZX7's, though. 

 

Or maybe this is the time to switch to a non-set pitching wedge....

Well hopefully in your case they have a few shafts to finish some sets they've already started.

Just had my fitting today... Coming from a set of PXG 0311 Gen 2 with Steelfiber i95S shafts. I got them about this time last year and think they are fine but also didn't express a strong opinion in the original fitting (buddy had PXGs so I got mine when the Gen2 price dropped). As my game and knowledge improved grew less convinced they were the "right" clubs for me. Currently a 10hcp was probably a 18 last year. 

 

I was leaning toward a ZX5/7 combo going in as I have hit them once before so knew I liked them. 

 

Ended up trying: Srixons ZX/7, Callaway Apex/Pro, TM 770, JPX 921 Forged, Titleist T200

 

Started with the fitter putting the TT Elevate 95 shaft on the Srixions and was happy right off the bat with everything he saw. However he said might as well hit everything else. Did confirm though I preferred the help of the ZX5 in the 7i so decided if we did do combo we would break it at the 8iron. 

 

Hit the Apex really well, but didn't love the look then tried the Pro which I think is super pretty but was having a hard time making solid swings on the ball.

 

Took 3 swings with the TM 770 and handed it back to him. Lovely looking club but spin was way too high and didn't love the feel at all. I think TM makes great stuff just doesn't suit me well.

 

Hit JPX921, again pretty club and liked feel but the swings I thought were great just didn't turn out the way I thought they should. He 100% agreed. 

 

Then the T200 really surprised me ball absolutely launched off the face and like the feel quite a bit. My hits with this club made it obvious the final choice was between the ZX5/7 combo or the T200 full set. 

 

Went back and hit ZX7 again and immediately confirmed dispersion especially on distance was superior to T200 and ball flight was great. Ordered ZX5 5-7 and ZX7 8-AW. Said would likely be 3-4weeks but what I choose was pretty standard so was optimistic they would be able to be delivered within that window.

So I decided to ask if DD's could inquire and see if they would get more information. They just got back to me and Srixon told them they were not expecting ANY more MMT shafts until May.

I recall reading the same about other vendors. It’s a Mitsubishi/MMT issue not a Srixon issue.

At least for me, it is just the PW shaft. I am having them ask if I can just cancel the ZX7 PW and get a 46* Zipcore with an in-stock steel shaft sent out in a reasonably timely fashion.

Just played with my zx4 4-6   zx5  6-aw combo that I received yesterday .order was placed feb 22.Just replaced my 919 hmpro .Better feel and at least 1/2 club longer .All lofts set to zx5 std.

Maybe old news, but I just think I saw on the Srixon site that they were taking orders again.  I am pulling an all-nighter and tired, but did not see the red writing saying clubs were back ordered?

I was told the delay on my set was the mmt 105 shaft. Word was they expected more March 15. We shall see. Wait goes on. I wish that information had gotten to me sooner. I could have gone with an in stock shaft. I get the supply chain issues Srixon, but you can certainly do better with communication.
